A little quaint place with a nice atmosphere and good service. I ordered the clam chowder which had a nice consistency, good ratio of potatoes and clams but found the soup to be lacking in flavor. It was bland which was surprising because it was presented well and looked flavorful. A little disappointed being my first time to try The Chowder Housebut but would definitely give them another try. It might have been an off day for the cook.

Huge disappointment. Ordered the Salmon chowder.... Where's the salmon? The chowder was tasteless. No taste of salmon or any other flavors, it was so bland. My friend got the same chowder and felt the same way.I've had amazing Salmon chowder in the Northwest, so when I took a bite I was turned off immediately. Not even hot sauce or black peppered was going to save this. Also it was barely warm and I just couldn't even eat it. Basically I ended up with a $17 croissant since that was the only edible item I ordered. Normally I would give a restaurant a second or even a third chance, but not place.I'll try another place in Fairbanks that I'm willing to spend the money on.

Had lunch with a couple friends while on a business trip. The sandwich was good - would suggest getting a whole vs half sandwich. Chowder was good and our friends really liked the crab rolls.

Great atmosphere, friendly helpful service and great local cuisine. We split a bowl of the Halibut chowder and it did not disappoint. The waitress suggested a bowl for my wife and I to split rather than 2 cups. She pointed out that a bowl is 16 oz and cup is 8 oz, but the two cups cost more than one bowl. That was helpful service. We also split the crab roll, which is actually 2 crab gold full of fresh king crab. Will come back next time we are I Fairbanks!

The staff is super friendly, food was excellent with large portions, I was only in Fairbanks for one day but if I ever visit again I’ll come back.

Always fresh, friendly, and fast. If you let the construction mess discourage you from going to The Chowder House, you’re seriously missing out! The pulled pork is the best I’ve ever had — anywhere! Excellent new dinner menu and I love every item I’ve tried. My latest indulgence is the pepperjack cheesesteak sandwich. It’s fantastic every time! I’ve tried similar at other places in town, but this one beats them all out. Quiches are flavorful and fresh; design-you-own sandwiches and salads always super fresh ingredients. There’s fancy espresso drinks and desserts too, but my favorite is the thick and super chocolatey milkshake. It’s a perfect “let’s-not-over-indulge” size, and not overly-priced like some others in town. When others jack the prices up unreasonably, they may get my business once…but that’s it. The Chowder House is keeping it reasonable, so my return business is for them. They’re making delicious fresh berry shakes now too! I will definitely be back and highly recommend this place.

Visiting family in Fairbanks. Chowder House sounded interesting and reviews were good. Service was great, They serve a soup of the day which was Chicken Noodle. I had Salmon Chowder and it was excellent. Soup/Sandwich combo was around $15. 3 in r party so had Apple, Peanut Butter Pie and Chocolate Cake. Dessert was yummy! Would recommend!

Ordered the halibut corn chowder and the crab roll. Both were very good. The crab roll comes on warm toasted bread. Saw they had a peanut butter milkshake so had to also order that and it did not disappoint. Food came out quickly and service was very good. Would definitely come back again for a crab roll and some chowder!

amazing crab roll and halibut corn chowder!!Love the fresh and umami flavor from snow crab and, I tried the first half without sauce and lemon, and put those on for second half, both delicious ?? will def visit in person again, soon become my new favorite in town ???

We had not been to this small spot since before Covid. It has been remodeled and is much nicer than it used to be. The service was spot on and the food was fresh and even tastier than I remembered. We will be going back and telling our friends. The only downside was that paying caused quite a back up of people.
