Best Halibut sandwich and fish tacos in the northern hemisphere.
The reviews convinced us to try. We are so glad we did. The staff are so delightful and the ambiance truly of a small diner. Our meals were tasty and exactly what we were looking for. Highly recommended.
Disappointing. World Famous Halibut sandwich was nothing special at all. Could be a cute place, but waitress was completely bored and the same 5 songs played over and over when we were there. Bummed it wasn't more special.
Food was outstanding and the staff was so friendly. I went in my first day and I would k have gone back if I had spent any more time in that area.
Excellent food and service. The grilled halibut melt was delicious and so was the fried halibut sandwich. Would definitely recommend eating here. The food was made fresh and served nice and hot.
So on a beautiful Wednesday morning I was taking a walk before I head in to work to interview a potential employee but the munchies hit. I looked up the top rated food joints open nearby and there it was. The White Spot Cafe… I as a black man was shocked to see a place named The White Spot Cafe(since the 1950’s I might add). But I thought to myself well screw it. The food might be worth probably being one of the few young black men that came in if not the first. As I walked in I definitely turned some heads. I have no clue why that was. The waitress then asked what I would like to have and after taking my order kindly let the cooks know not to push my order back as due to me already being there as a to go order and it was very busy. My food came out much quicker than expected and the food was actually delicious. The waitress and cooks were great and they chef it up right in front of you if you decide. Definitely would recommend ??
We heard about this place from a couple on the same elevator with us. They were raving about the halibut sandwich. We went for breakfast today and the food was delicious, employees felt like family and they were very honest with how huge the blueberry hotcakes were!!!! Must try for yourself!!
We ate here last summer. We actually just found it heading to some stores on the same road. I can't remember everything we had but I know we had the Halibut Sandwhich and the Salmon Sandwhich. Pretty sure we had one of the soap specials. The sandwhiches are huge and you can share if you're like our family. We like to try different things and everyone share what you ordered. The owners are great and when they aren't crazy busy stopped to talk with us and my husband really enjoyed the conversation! We thought it was so good we ate lunch there twice. Highly recommend!
The halibut sandwich measured up to my expectations. Fresh, flaky yet not dry, texture. Old-school vintage 1960s decor which is all part of the experience and charm. A must-try when in Anchorage.
Some of the best food comes from the most unassuming places…and this was one of them. While visiting Anchorage, my friend from Maryland said we absolutely had to have lunch at The White Spot. The halibut sandwich was hands down the best fish sandwich I’ve ever had. I could literally eat there daily if our schedule would allow it. Simply delicious food with a friendly staff! Best kept secret!!
