Fantastic sushi and atmosphere! This is my favorite sushi restaurant in Anchorage; the sushi is delicious and the staff are super nice. The spicy poke appetizer is fantastic as well.After Sushi & Sushi closed I was super sad but Tozai has the same menu and staff, if you loved Sushi & Sushi you'll love Tozai too.
So. Good. Quite pricey, but that's what you expect with good sushi and Japanese food. We got the beef yakisoba, and 2 sushi rolls. One had mango and the other had jalapeño, and they were both amazing. Our server was the nicest man ever too so that was a bonus.
My girlfriend and I have tried numerous sushi spots around anchorage. Tozai stands out from the rest by far. The rolls actually taste different from one another and the nagiri options are great. Our server Matt is the nicest dude you will meet. Super fast service. Nothing better than some fish and hot sake on a cold winters night. 10/10 would recommend to anyone in anchorage who want sushi.
Great ambiance, amazing food and even better service. I usually order nigiri: ama ebi, hotate, sake, and saba - delicious every single time! Matt, our serve, THE server, is such a delight. Highly recommend!
We have talked about trying this restaurant for sometime. Tonight, we tried it. The atmosphere is a pleasant surprise. It is like arriving in a new place outside Alaska. It is modern and tasteful. The first issue in NO military discount. We were greeted and seated at once. We were provided with water quickly. We ordered the mixed tempura platter, the Rainbow roll, the teriyaki salmon and the green beef. We got our entrees before we got our appetite. The green beef was well prepared and tasted great. My wife thought that the teriyaki had way too much sauce on it. The appetizer was alright. 3 small shrimp, 1 zucchini and 3 sweet potato. Other restaurants have included onion rings and mushrooms. I don't mind paying a little more, to get a little more. The appetizer was also quite greasy and was not drained properly. We will probably give this restaurant another try to check out other dishes. Overall, price not bad and food was alright.
The food was "ok" but the sushi wasn't fresh, it tasted old, I mentioned it to the waiter and they asked if I wanted salmon instead, the salmon looked like farmed salmon, I came here for sushi, I was disappointed.BTW the sushi was 2 days old and I could taste it, I asked for their "best" sushi, I was disappointed, eel and some other sashimi, I guess they threw out the tuna they were going to give me. I don't think ill be back.
Sushi Sushi closed but this is the same owner. Totally different atmosphere but the food is still fantastic! Went on my daughters birthday and had Green Beef, it was one her her favorites.
They always have such a great menu to choose from, fresh sushi, tasty food and amazing ambiance. 100% recommended ?
I love the salmon sushi. The fish is so fresh and tender. Other sushi was good as well
Found this place after recommendation by coworkers and was not disappointed. Large menu... Great sushi! Nice bar and the place is lively and fun.
