I often read other reviews and sometimes, quite frankly, it has discouraged me to patronize a place. Since we were staying at the Coast Hotel at Lake Hood, and since Pipers is the restaurant there, we (three adults) gave it a try in spite of some negative reviews. To that point, I am a bit baffled by a couple of reviews I read. To be sure, everyone has likely had a bad experience at a good restaurant, and with the COVID experience, some places may be short of staff and thus slow of service, but I also think that some people forget that a restaurant called a "sports lounge" is not going to be a fancy, linen table-cloth restaurant and they should adjust their reviews accordingly. Anyway, we ate there three times--twice in back-to-bake evenings and once for breakfast. In each case, the servers were great and attentive despite the place being busy, and the food was quite good. The drinks were also really good and well-prepared. The breakfast was also very good and generous. So I gave it five stars for being good at what it is.
Beer battered halibut with sweet potato fries….delicious
I stayed at the hotel and the hotel was great. On my way to the airport I wanted to grab lunch so I ordered some food and you can see by the picture, DO NOT ORDER THE STEAK BITES! You will waste your money. For $17, you would think you would get more than 8 steak bites. They should serve them on a bed of rice maybe or add more. They need to make them look more appealing. I was very disappointed.
We were party of five, after 2pm, open seating. We started on deck but ended up inside after appetizers as it got too cool weatherwise. waitstaff didn't sem to mind table switch. Food was good, generous portions, nacho appetizers was very good and also piper punch cocktail was delish! Waitstaff was very pleasant and accomodating-would definitely visit again.
We just got to Alaska from Nashville. Long flight and since Pipers is in the building with our hotel, we tried for a quick bite. Split the Chicken Nachos with my wife. They were fresh and tasty. The view from the patio is awesome!! Very good experience.
Reasonable food and service. Operation seemed a little chaotic. Ate in three separate dining areas, including patio. Group dining was much more organized and efficient. Patio dining was not well attended by staff and there was no shade. Maybe not a major problem for 10 months of the year. But was a little uncomfortable near the solstice.
Stopped here looking to watch the NBA finals while killing time waiting for our Alaska Airlines redeye flight. Weren't sure what to expect from this sports bar attached to an airport hotel, but found ourselves very satisfied with the food and service. Especially pleased to be there at happy hour, when several of our dishes were half-price. Two of us enjoyed excellent angus beef sliders and one enjoyed their salmon and mashed potatoes. All of us enjoyed the sweet potato fries and two of us enjoyed the wings. Good choice of beers.
We only had evening drinks and breakfast here. The waitress in the evening was very friendly but the coffee she brought was terrible. The breakfast was good with large portions and very friendly staff who provided good service.
Quick service, good food. You can get a free shuttle from airport.
New remodel, looks nice and very clean. Service was good and food was great. Had chicken fried steak and eggs.
