We had a 7:30 reservation on a Saturday. Only one person appeared to be serving and there were two large parties, in addition to several small ones. It took 15 minutes to get a second round of drinks and waiter didn’t even check with everyone to see if they wanted a second drink. The pork belly was tender, but not flavorful. The halibut and steak tacos were dry. The steak shawarma was good, but the hummus seemed unnecessary. Maybe things would’ve been better on a better staffed night.
Tried going here with Donald around 9 15pm and the sign said closs at 10. We were told they are getting ready to close. We both native. That racist prejudice blonde guy had turned us away. I've never been so discriminated against like this I my entire life! Natives be aware of this racist prejudice place!
Perfect location and great food! This is quickly becoming my fav restaurant. I had the banana cashew crusted halibut taco and wowza! Amazing flavor! My husband got the bistro steak and it was cooked perfectly. We had a blonde with ice cream for desert and it was beautifully presented. The service was great and it’s right across from town square so the location was perfect.
Came here on a busy Iditarod weekend brunch. The day my friend and I stopped by, there was only one waitress working for the entire restaurant (I'm assuming someone called in). My friend and I didn't realize this situation until we were already seated. I may have left if I would have known, not because we were in any rush at all, but because of feeling guilty for just giving her one more table to deal with. Anyway, despite the circumstances the staff killed it. The waitress was super apologetic about the slow service--which honestly wasn't even that slow. It did take longer than normal to get our orders placed, but the food came out fast and she even checked on us mid-meal. I was thoroughly impressed by the service despite the stressful circumstances on their end. The kitchen staff even delivered some of the meals to help out and were super friendly as well. Now onto the food--it was incredible! My friend and I split the falafel pita and it was so so so good. The spicy harissa sauce on the side was both of our favorites. The pita was warm, the falafel was perfect, and the feta/tzatziki blend was fresh. We both got the side soup of the day which she said was a peanut soup. It was savory, full of flavor, and perfect on a snowy day. My friend and I agreed that we want to come back for dinner. Big shout out to the staff, we had a 10/10 experience on Saturday despite the chaos!
The food was alright. The salads here are huge, definitely worth the price. But none of the food particularly woohed me. The customer service was terrible, aside for one older gentleman working. The host was rude, and when we came in to be seated, she seemed more annoyed than welcoming to our party. (even though we had made a reservation ahead of time). This restaurant is downtown, so I feel a lot of the customers that come in are tourists, and will more than likely not come back. So maybe this is the reason for the cold and unwelcoming customer service. Or maybe it was because it was a Saturday, and they had a busy day? Regardless if the bill includes a gratitude tip, we expect smiles and kindness from the workers- aswell as attentiveness.Overall, not worth the hype and won't go back.
Pangea’s deliciously juicy Drive-In Burger used to be tied for 1st place?with F Street Station for the best cheeseburger & fries for-the-money downtown; however, with Pangea recently increasing the cost of their Drive-In Burger by an entire $2, F Street Station has solidified its position as the best bar & grill for-the-money in downtown Anchorage, Alaska. ????? However, a top-shelf Chef, beautiful open scenery with vibrant colors and natural light flooding in from the large windows looking out to Town Square Park, much more elbow-room and a vaulted ceiling is what you get for that extra two dollars. NOT A BAD DEAL! Pangea still easily gets five stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ regardless of who might have a better priced burger & fries nearby. ??????(Let my photos here speak for themselves, if they tell you these Pangea Drive-In Burgers are absolutely juicy and delicious then you interpreted correctly. Worth a thousand words and all that. ?)
Date night with hubby planned for Saturday night. Tickets bought for Saturday 7:30 Performance for international Guitar Night. Check. Reservations made at Pangea, For Saturday Night 6pm. Check. Planned our say day around going out for a nice dinner and Entermainment. Showed up for our reservation at Pangea at 5:57pm. Host looks through reservations. Doesn’t find our name… goes and gets his boss. He goes through and doesn’t find our name. He is very disrespectful about it.. Makes me feel like we’re lying about making reservations. He doesn’t want to look into it at all. “Too busy, “he says. “We’re completely booked tonight”.. “Sorry, no table for you”. We understand mistakes are made, but contingencies should be planned for situations such as this. Basically the beginning of our fun evening was awful.Hope no one else has this happen to them.
Wow what a nice place. Pat the head chef was very friendly and it was good to see him again. Me and my best friend had BaoBun Shawarma, Shawarms Pita and El Paster Tacos. I srnk water and he had a Guava Mimosa and a Jalapeño Long Island. He said the drinks were good but couldn't really taste the Guava. I like to idea that you can buy the cooks a beer is you feel they did a good job.. Pat doesn't drink so I wish I could just tip him.The food was delicious except for one veggie chips is had as a side thr waiter said they had a sweet taste to them and to me I tasted a little salt but that was all. Not my thing, but if it's yours go for it. Speaking of the waiter he needs some training in customer service. He was playing on his ohine and we waiting to have out order taken and he didn't check up like he should have. We had to wait longer than we should have for drink / water refills. That is why they got 4 stars and not 5. Bit defensive step in and enjoy the amazing and delicious food. But be patient if needed. Atleast the waiter showed up for work.
We celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary at Pangea along with 22 friends and family. We had a fabulous time, food was amazing and the service top notch. Thank you for making this an anniversary to remember. Clydene and Joel
We recently attended a private dinner at Pangea. The food was outstanding, the staff very attentive and the atmosphere was welcoming and cozy. There was a variety of excellent appetizers and entrees to suit any discerning taste. We will definitely go there again and recommend you try it if you haven’t done so. Thank you!
