Comfortable accommodations with efficient breakfast staff. Finding an acceptable dinner location was a challenge. Attic Sushi looks like a dive but had very good food.
This is a lovely hotel. It is very nice, very clean and the people working there were very professional and helpful.
Captain Cook must have been in business in Anchorage for a long time. Definitely has a reputation to keep so why is it that they do not keep their rooms upgraded.
We had halibu tacos ,seafood chowder salads all where great the service is great the place too
We had a late dinner here after arriving at the Captain Cook Hotel. Even though it was quite busy, our party was seated right away. Our server was a great guy who was courteous and friendly. We ordered the Chicken Noodle Soup, Spaghetti with Meatballs, and the Rueben Sandwich. Soups were flavorful, hot, and full of vegetables and chicken. The Rueben was huge and full of flavor. We were so full after the meal, we couldn't even imagine dessert. Great place with a comfortable atmosphere!
Hands down, the best fish and chips, overall, ever. Missing was some mushy peas or coleslaw. Extra lemons and tartar were both fresh. Some of the chips were stuck together and perhaps a bit under cooked. Definitely eat here again.
Good food. Good price. Kinda changed experience when their credit card machine didn't take 2 of our cards. Especially when we used card in store before we ate.
Quick stay before a cruise, welcoming staff, very clean, and friendly. Decor might be dated by some standards but Personally, in my opinion that was part of the appeal. Food on site (breakfast) was delicious and reasonably priced.
Cons: 1. Plumbing noise from other rooms meant ear plugs were required for uninterrupted sleep. Not good! 2. Temperature control mean showers were only warm, not hot. 3. Generally hordes of cruise passengers filling up lobby, elevator and hotel restaurants. Pros: 1. Very convenient location and friendly helpful front desk. 2.Could adjust room air con temp and part open windows for fresh air. 3. Two meals from Fletcher's were excellent, albeit as room service to avoid 40 min wait for a table....
The Captain Cook Hotel is an excellent choice to stay for those interested in staying in downtown Anchorage. It has great restaurants and it’s close to others, too.
