We enjoyed great burgers which were gluten free (without the bun). It was extremely busy but we sat outside watching the sea planes taking off from the lake and the weather was fab.
I came here with my husband while visiting beautiful Alaska, wanting a waterfront dinner. We ordered 2 appetizers and 2 drinks. The drinks were pretty good, but for $18 we got a shrimp cocktail that consisted of 6 pieces of shrimp in a wine glass full of mixed greens with hardly any cocktail sauce. At nearly $3 for each piece of shrimp we expected it to be amazing, but it honestly didn't taste completely fresh and one of the shrimp was not fully cleaned and we had to pull the Intestines out before eating.Overall. This restaurant is overpriced if you were expecting good waterfront food.
This place is great for viewing the activities on Lake Hood. Prime rib and seafood Cobb salad were both good. Service was quick and courteous! We plan to come again. I would recommend The Moose for drinks and a meal.
Sit outside on a summer afternoon/evening and watch the float planes take off and land, how cool is that! So when you ask to sit on the patio look for the best view of the lake because you want to be able to see all the planes coming and going. Now beyond the cool atmosphere let's talk food. The food was EXCELLENT and the pricing was in my opinion fair. they had a good selection of local beers too.
Well guys, this place is all about atmosphere and no hospitality!!!!! No signs for seating yourself or wait to be seated in plan view… we came in standing around for about 10 mins. Finally sat down just to be told we had one min to order food. Hell I could of ordered the first 10 mins I was standing there. Then I asked for a drink and observed the manager at the bar tell my server I couldn’t have one because it was 9:47 and they closed at 10! Even though I watched her pour not one, not two BUT THREE draft beers for customers and staff. I walked out and told them Nevermind! Rude!!! Stuck up!!!! And Not welcoming at all! I give this place a zero star and huge thumbs down!
I came for dessert and cocktails. The berry cosmo wasn’t even drinkable and the old fashion was off. The berry cobbler came out like a berry soup with a scoop of ice cream. It had almost no crumble at all. I thought i would get a plain coffee before I left and o couldn’t even drink it, it had so many coffee grounds in it. Luckily it came in a clear mug so i could see the grounds before taking a sip. 0 stars if i could
Sat for over 15 minutes without a server acknowledging me or offering a menu. The person who brought my drink acted like she was put out to take my order. Always looked forward to stopping here when I’m in Anchorage. Won’t be anymore
Great food nice atmosphere and very nice bar.
I recommend this place, the Alaskan beer is delicious
This experience was a bit disappointing. I've always loved the location with its beautiful views of Lake Hood but this time the views couldn't make up for the lackluster decor and average menu. We started with the crab and artichoke dip which came out hot... too hot-and burned the roof of my mouth. We also ordered burgers and fries. I was a little put off that the waitress didn't ask how we like them cooked. She also didn't inform us of the specials, perhaps too busy to do so. Otherwise staff seemed positive and genuine. When the burgers came out the buns looked like they'd been played with by a child before ending up on my plate hugging a raw-in-the-middle, well-done patty that looked like it had fake grill marks. The patty was tasteless, the bacon was crisp but not freshly cooked, and the fries were inconsistent. If I were invited back with friends I'd still go for a beer but I'd make sure to eat dinner at home first. The place has aged poorly and feels more like a dive bar, unfortunately coming a little too slow out of the gate as more restaurants try to put covid behind them. Hopefully they can do better with more time. I'll be back to review again, just not any time soon.
