I like the food and service at this place, but the last time I was there I was solicited by a homeless person as soon as I walked inside the restaurant. I mentioned it to the hostess and she just shrugged and said she couldn’t get them to leave. Then proceeded to tell me the person was on the Crimestoppers most wanted list in Tuscaloosa! I would not recommend this place.
We got to the restaurant about 7 minutes before closing and was going to leave. The manager told us to stay. I'm glad he did, not only was the food amazing but our server Lauren was top notch. She took our order and I think she cooked it also. Having to stay late did not seem to bother her at all. We have visited during the day but never later at night but we will definitely be back, just in time to be out buy 9. If more than 5 stars could be given, then I would. What a pleasure our experience was. Thank you Lauren.
My husband & I had the low country boil for two and I simply cannot say enough how delicious the food was! Portions are more than adequate- the shrimp is excellent!
Jessica was the best waitress that we’ve had in years. She is very friendly, has a great personality and sense of humor. She never let our drink glasses get below half full. The food was delicious!!
I ordered through door dash for delivery. With my shrimp basket, I was supposed to get a side of my choice ( as well as the slaw that came with it), but there was no place to choose my side. I did not want fries, but that’s the side that was included. I ordered a side of okra, but was charged extra for it. I got 9 breaded pieces. I also ordered a small Caesar salad, but when it arrived, it was flooded with dressing with a half inch floating in the bottom of the container. It was inedible. I don’t think I’ll ever order again from Shrimp Basket. After eating what was edible, I was still hungry, and I spent over $50 for the meal (some of it delivery fees).
I brought my family in last night. Wow this place is amazing. We vacation in Orange Beach and eat there everytime we go. This place brought back so many memories. The staff was friendly and the food was great! Fresh. The manager suggested the blackened redfish. So good. We will be back. Our server was wonderful.Felt like we were at the beach. Minus the cold.
This deserves a half star but I couldn’t do that. My list of places to eat in Tuscaloosa just keeps getting smaller..carried my son here for a great experience he loves seafood and fried green tomatoes..too bad he didn’t get any, we sat for 10 minutes never greeted once no drinks nothing.3 servers passed us literally tables right beside us.Nothing. I assume it was the manager who sat at the bar on a computer along with one of the 3 servers who passed us, she stopped and talked to a regular I’m guessing. Oh well, won’t be eating at the shrimp basket in Tuscaloosa EVER. Restaurant wasn’t even busy.. sad how bad service continues to get but we are at The Peach pit now and one server but we were greeted IMMEDIATELY!
We came in for lunch on New Years’ Day and got excellent service from Anna. Also received personalized service and suggestions for our order from the manager. We enjoyed the steamed shrimp and salad combo as well as the fried shrimp and fish combo. We will be back soon.
Haven’t had shrimp basket since the location in Montgomery closed, so I was excited to try this one. First off, the people were nice which is why I’m giving 2 stars instead of 1 but the food was horrible. The quality was terrible. My fries were cold, old and stale, unfortunately I didn’t have time to go back inside as I had to hit the road back to Montgomery before dark. I wanted some to eat riding back and didn’t have time to dine in or go back to correct issues. So I took what was gave and trusted that the food was good. Anyway I ordered a cheeseburger ONLY MAYO, which means I still wanted cheese on the burger just with Mayo. I heard commotion going on in the kitchen on whether or not cheese go on the burger and the wait time was ridiculous because of it. Overheard the crew saying “no cheese” so when the server came back out and told me she was waiting on the burger, I told her it has cheese just with mayo. She then preceded to tell me the cashier rung it up as no cheese. No cheese would indicate plain with mayo and I never said that. Long story short, waited 40 minutes for a take out order ,might as well dined in, and the food was still nasty. Never again!
If I were just rating the service, this restaurant would easily get a 5 out of 5! Servers and manager were friendly and attentive. The food was good. But, cleanliness of restaurant could be better.
