This is one of our favorite places in town. The macaroni is amazing! Highly reccomend the brisket as well. They have the good ice. Bring a jacket the ac is always going full blast!
Service was great. Food not so much. Arrived around 5 ordered Brisket and Chicken combo . Brisket was dry and no smoke flavor or smoke ring. Which could have been refrigerated and reheated. Chicken was ok . Not much flavor. Very small portion . Maybe a thigh. Expected more out of the great state of Alabama bbq.
I consider Jim N Nick's to be among the best of the chain bbq places. They're usually very consistent and have authentic southern bbq. I had my usual pulled pork and onion rings. As usual, the pulled pork was very good but the onion rings were superb. Wait staff and Manager were very attentive and kept a check on me to make sure everything was good. I'm glad that I found this restaurant within walking distance of my hotel as it was the highlight of my evening.
Sadly disappointing. I've eaten at one in Birmingham and it was great. Our meal today was a disappointment. While the brisket and chicken were good, the ribs were tough, tasteless, had little meat, and were nearly inedible. The barbecue corn was sweet from some white sauce and did not taste "barbecued". The slaw was dressed with watered down salad dressing at best guess. Overall, a disappointment.
My family frequently visits Jim and Nick's they have awesome food, customer service is below average. The reason I gave 2 stars is because each time I go we usually get the same thing now keep in mind I do not always look at my receipt which that part is my fault but each time I pay a different amount so in my mind I'm thinking prices increased due to everything with covid, but I was definitely wrong! The last time I went which was recently my total for 2 plates was over 40.00 but each item was only 11.99 or something close to that maybe 11.49 not over 12.00 but anyways I was thinking that can't be right so I asked why was it so high and as I was looking at the receipt I noticed I was not charged for the right items. This is probably the 7th or 8th time this has happened. Moving forward i will definitely pay attention to my receipt each time we visit this restaurant. Just a word of advice to anyone that visits this restaurant pay attention to youre receipt!!!!
Second time in town, clearly the best BBQ. Instead of breaking down their kitchen 40 minutes before close like the neighbor, they serve perfect brisket, hot, tender and tasty. Pulled pork was tender and delicious. Service was done with a smile and appreciation. After trying two other places, I’ll just come here next time... and the next after that.
Wow.. what an experience. We were excited to try this joint after seeing great reviews online. We go in at 7pm on a Saturday night. Hostess told us a 15 minute wait, we said that was fine. There was 4 tables in the entire restaurant and their bar area was closed. I work in food service and understand the staffing shortages and the impact COVID has had on the food industry. The hostess tonight was the laziest employee I have ever seen in a restaurant. She would walk across the dining room and plop down in the booth, taking selfies, listening to headphones and slouched all over. The phone was ringing nonstop, people were constantly walking in and having to wait on her “convince”. The only server was running around like crazy doing the best she can. We finally left after 25 mins. Lousy excuse for customer service. I don’t know who is running this place, but I would advise you talk to your employees about customer service. We did not feel welcomed in this establishment.
Was there tonight 1/2/22 and they were down to one server. Hannah never let mine or my wife’s drink run out, had fresh cheese muffins, checked on us often, and even offered a to-go drink. Y’all, she deserves a raise/bonus/amazing tips. If anyone gets in her section in the future, you’re in for a treat, so tip well!
They catered to a wedding I was at and wow, great food. I have hated mac and cheese my whole life but there's was fantastic. Turkey slices and white sauce was amazing. Great baked beans. Want to try the restaurant soon.
