Excellent food! I enjoyed the steak burrito.

Received a gift card and decided to try someplace new for dinner and spoil myself. The presentation of the meal is good, the meal itself, not worth the price. I didn’t complain since I was using a gift card. Well this restaurant REFUSED to accept its own gift card. Apparently there’s a new owner, no name change, but new management. So an apparent new owner refuses to accept gift cards for their own restaurant. No notices posted anywhere stating that prior to this date gift cards are invalid. Nice job there. The one and only reason I went there was to use a gift card that someone purchased for $50.00. So you profit from the sale of the gift card and the $50 charge for my meal since you would not accept the gift card. That’s a disgrace!!

Took forever to get drinks at the bar, but I think it was just because the bartender was new. The food was awesome and had a spicy kick to it. I got the rice bowl, and the fish filet was cooked perfectly. The salsa was amazing as well. Very hearty. Greats margs too!

Nice outdoor seating just off the sidewalk. The bar and indoor seating were nice too but it was a great day to eat outside. The food was very good. We had the dip trio (salsa, queso, guac) and split the tinga chicken enchiladas. There were 2 enchiladas that were full of flavor. They had just enough heat to enjoy but not overwhelm.

Absolutely delicious!!! We ordered the machete and tostadas. Both entrees came with Mexican rice that was to die for!! So freaking tasty! To top it off, our waitress was very friendly and helpful. Needless to say we enjoyed our visit. Will be visiting again soon!

Ordered some chicken nachos and I was quickly reminded this place sells bar food, my chicken was cubed and rubbery, my cheese was not melted and it was just the typical bar food. I will go back though because I've heard good things I want to order something else.

Stopped in for lunch the other day. Service, vibe and food were excellent. The server was attentive and manager checked to make sure everything was ok. Started with chips and salsa. Got tacos with the sides black beans and street corn. Finished with key lime pie. I will be back and looking forward to trying other offerings.

Absolutely love their margaritas but not a huge fan at all of the new menus sizes and quality. Heard they got a new owner but definitely wish they would go back to the old menu. I got the enchilada which in my opinion is meant to be smothered. It was really disappointing.

I wish that they would go back to their old recipes and menu. Central Mesa used to be my favorite restaurant in Tuscaloosa. The queso and enchiladas were completely different. Sadly, I doubt I will be coming back anytime soon.

Before the remodel (new neon light, loud speakers) this restaurant was one of the few unique options in town, creating South American inspired dishes. They retained the Cuban sandwich, which I no longer recommend, and changed the rest of the menu to comparatively generic mexican staples. What Tuscaloosa does not have a shortage of are places to get mexican food. This place plates the food in a semi-upscale manner but the food itself feels like a midwesterner watched Top Chef.Central Mesa remains one of the few non-chain options around town.
