They are friendly and welcoming and the food tastes great. I really like the sauce they use. It was a nice change from your average BBQ sauce. The ribs were tender and the meat just falls off the bone and has a great flavor. Will definitely be coming back for more.
First time here. Had popcorn shrimp, 1/2 slab of ribs, Mac n cheese, potato salad. Mustard like barbecue sauce is pretty good just a bit more thin/watery then I'm used to but still good! I'm not a fan of dry ribs but these were good. Potato salad mustard base as well and delicious.
We had ribs with mac n cheese, baked chicken and potato salad. Very tasty. Had to wait a bit but it was well worth the time.
I very much disliked mustard based barbecue sauce... But after tasting chesters barbecue sauce I can learn to like it... Very good , friendly staff...
Known about the place for a long time since I had started dating my wife in 2011. Would usually grab two slabs of ribs from there before we headed back up to Atlanta.Food has always been good. The ribs are on point along with the collard greens, cabbage, and mac & cheese.
On a family road trip and detoured to this Chester’s from Columbus Georgia. Passed two other Chester’s to go to this one in Alabama. When I received my food my ribs were completely burnt. They we’re chard. I can’t believe I paid $27 for two plates and waited an hour because the ribs were no ready until after 2:00 pm to get burnt ribs. When I called to complain, I was told “ I fixed that plate myself, I know those ribs were not burnt”. I was so hungry and didn’t want to stop at another restaurant, I ate bread and sides. I was to far away to go back. If they needed $27 that bad, I could have given it as a donation. I will NEVER go back or recommend this Chester’s to anyone. No one offered to resolve the issue. I only got attitude and disrespect. Never ever again..
Local Columbus GA and Phenix City AL, family owned restaurants. I visited the AL restaurant because it's closer in proximity. I purchased the smoked rib tray. Meat was falling off the bone. Added Mac and cheese and potato salad, and it was very delicious. This meal definitely hit the spot and put me to sleep within an hour after eating. If you are in this area and you want a great home-cooked meal, do visit either spots (one in Columbus GA and one in Phenix City AL). I would recommend.
Barbecue sandwich is great but need to cook crinkle cut fries a little longer
If you want great soul food & even better service this is the place for you! The ribs fall off of the bone. The sauce is just enough sweet with a bit of tangy. The vegetables are authentic & always homemade. You won’t be disappointed! The lady upfront is a tad bit special, but she means well. This is my HONEST review!
