My friend and I came here for an early supper while traveling through. The service was fantastic and our food was just perfect in every way! Our server was extremely pleasant and made us feel right at home. We would eat here again and again and again!
I feel like this place has fallen off a bit from what I remember years ago. A group of us went there for lunch today, and it was just subpar. I had the country fried steak, mashed potatoes, mac and cheese, and string beans. With the exception of the mac and cheese, everything tasted like it came out of a box or can. I was pretty disappointed. The waitress was attentive, and the prices were fine, but I won't be going back until they figure out how to cook again.
I don’t get the fuss over this meat and three restaurant…the sides taste like they came out of a tin can. The fried chicken was bland. I wanted to LOVE this place- looks like it has the soul of a fine southern food establishment. Until you take a bite.
Got a very typical dinner, Martin’s fried chicken and roast beef with wonderful smashed potatoes, sweet smashed potato with cinamon and sugar and typical cornbread! Fresh and tasty. While we were waiting the owner gave us a warm welcome and friendly chat about her place, Alabama food, and where to go in Montgomery. Finally we came out with a wonderful book with a personal greetings and two pieces of homemade pie! So we had a wonderful warm and friendly experience, very southern food, in an authentic and unforgettable restaurant.
Visited on April 14 for lunch. Food ok, not outstanding. Not disappointed though having eaten there many times. But the interior was really dirty. Dirt and heavy dust all over windowsills and edge of carpet against base molding that could not have been cleaned in more than a week if then. Restaurant just needs a good cleaning as in carpet shampooed and heavy wipe-down of paneled walls and windows and blinds. Not appetizing to look at while waiting on your food order.
We found this place in our Road Food book and it did not disappoint. We had an early dinner here. The staff was very pleasant and prompt. We were seated immediately and were brought some cornbread muffins. We both had the chicken dinner and it was very good. If you enjoy home cooked food this is your place
The real deal! Good down home cooking at it's very best. Very friendly staff... Get there early or expect options to become limited. You won't find any out of the box, frozen fast food here!
The food has a homemade southern look ,taste and it was great. Cornbread muffins hot and delicious.
Very good fried chicken. I ordered the lunch meal special which comes with meat and three side for $12. I also added a pulley chicken based on other reviews. I was surprised the meal came with not only two pieces of chicken but two breast. I tried the rice/gravy, string beans, and mashed potatoes/gravy along with corn muffins (2). The side were nothing special. In fact the rice/gravy barely had any gravy on it. The mashed potatoes/gravy was good and the string beans only needed a little pepper. The muffins on the other hand were not good at all. Not sure what all the rave is about the pulley chicken as it was just white meat cut where the wishbone is located on a chicken. The breasts were just as good. Very good price for what you get. Would I stop again if nearby...yes. Would I go out of my way to go here...no. Service I received was excellent. It was very busy but received my meals quickly.
Very good southern food. Service was prompt and courteous. Everything you’d want in a meat and three. Older restaurant but did not affect the food.
