The atmosphere is amazing, decently decorated and the bartenders are very friendly. I’m 2018, the owner Mendel approached me saying that my dog isn’t allowed or welcome. I explained to him and even showed him my dog’s service identification. He proceeded, in telling me that I can’t finish my drink and snatched it out of my hands. Not to mention my service dog (Roman) was in a pet carrier, so it wasn’t like he was on the floor or around food/drinks. However, I responded to his actions very poorly I took a glass threw it at him and it broke. My behavior wasn’t justifiable but I was provoked, as the owner (Mendel), he had no rights to snatch the glass out of my hands. My service dogs has traveled all over the world and we have never had a problem. On April 9th, 2022, I was at Kru for almost an hour, when going to get another drink Mendel approached bring up the the previous situation however my response was very tactful and I tried to handle the situation with grace and class. However, he presented himself very aggressive and argumentative, I called him out and told him he’s being very tacky. Mendel’s response was I know “I am a N****r and ghetto”. My response was “Black man, King”, I was hoping my response would make him reflect and present himself in a more professional. I walked away and tried to deescalate the issue by going back to sit with my friend, Mendel followed me again and asked me to leave and threatened to call the cops. I told him I will leave momentarily. He caused another scene and even put his hands on me, it took everything in my power not to retaliate with violence. In closing, with everything that’s going on today such as the Pandemic, Russia and Ukraine War, police brutality, and BLM movement. Mendel, you have the platform to make a difference in your community. Violence and aggression isn’t the answer or proper response to situations. Several people of color have had similar experiences with you. Hopefully, after last night you will begin to work on your conflict resolution skills. Mendel you’re BLACK, no matter how many white people you try to camouflage yourself in! The only time you should look down or speak down to anyone, is when you’re helping them up!
Easily the best bar in town. Try a Shrunken Skull if you like fruity drinks or a Red Arrow if you like something bittersweet and spiced.It’s a chill bar/lounge atmosphere most of the time, but gets pretty lively on DJ nights! Check the Facebook page and plan accordingly.
