I’ve had the pleasure of experiencing BBQ from Texas to Georgia, with stops in Mississippi, Louisiana, and South Carolina in between. K&J Rib Shack is solid proof that Alabama creates great BarBeQue.✊?The beef ribs were generous, juicy, tender and full of flavor. I could tell that the chicken was well seasoned (possibly marinated) and wood smoked till done! No flash frying or oven heat heat here- somebody has put in some serious work in that pit.??The sides were also staples from the soul! No doubt about it- the lima beans and greens moved my spirit.?? Next time- I’m getting the potato salad??

R & J is the place to go when you're looking for some delicious Ribs. If you're not in the mood to grill and call R & J.

Stopped on our way to the Shakespeare festival and it did not disappoint, just as good as I remember BBQ being in the south. We got the chicken, pork, and brisket, I would buy 5 bottles of their sauce!!!! Couldn’t have asked for better people serving the best food!!

Stopped on our drive home to Louisiana and really enjoyed it. The spare ribs were delicious. I can still task the Smokey flavor!

Awesome truly local BBQ spot. The grill was smoking in the back lot when we pulled up.

I went today thinking I was about to grub and let’s just say my first and last time!! The ribs were alright, but the Mac was horrible no cheese and tasted sour. The potato salad looked like white ice cream. Greens taste like water no seasoning. Fried okra taste like the freezer. If I could sum this all up in one word disgusting ?

My pulled pork was nice. But the other 3 plates I bought with the chicken on them didn't get rave reviews. The leg quarters were burnt and the breast plate was too dry.

This was our first time visiting this place, but it won't be our last. The first thing that hit me as soon as we walked in was the aroma of very good barbecue. As we were ordering, we held a conversation with the man and lady whom I'm assuming are the owner and his wife, and they were very friendly. My husband got ribs, potato salad and baked beans, which he said were all very good. I got a vegetable plate, consisting of green beans, lima beans and cabbage. These vegetables tasted like they had been cooked by somebody's grandma for Sunday dinner! The only thing that would have made them any better is if I had gotten cornbread to eat with them, which I didn't only because I'm watching my weight. We will definitely be returning.

Ribs are so tender and the sauce is soooo good. Delicious sides. Every time we’re in AL, the rib shack is our first stop.

1st time here for my family & I. Great & Friendly Customer Service. The food was okay, but sadly there were bones & fat in the pulled chicken, the barbecue sauce was bland water, the cornbread dressing was mushy & seemed like it was a mix of Mexican cornbread with burnt cheese grits, the macaroni & cheese was just bland noodles with melted cheese on top, & the white rice was like sticky rice. However, the lima beans, the collard greens, & the actual cornbread were all Very tasty. No Military/Veteran Discount here either. Sadly, I probably won't be back ?.Update: I've had to downgrade from 2☆'s to 1☆, because it tore our stomachs up ?? ? !
