This place has smoked perfect barbecue for decades. Every time we go, the barbecue is exceptional. Even the barbecue chicken is tasty "to the bone"! I hope they will always be in operation. It may be a small brick building - it's a "mega giant" in what it does!
On our way to Destin with our grandkids, we stopped for the night in Montgomery, AL. When traveling, we like to forego national chains in favor of local businesses. I read the reviews for Brenda’s Bar-B-Que and decided to give it a try…so glad we did! Although there was no dining room, and only cash payment was accepted, the staff were friendly and the food was absolutely delicious! I highly recommend this place for lovers of barbecue!
Driving through Montgomery, this restaurant was out only stop. While it is not located in the fanciest part of town, our family was so happy we stopped. (Carry out Only) We were greeted by the great granddaughters of the original owners, and her friendliness was the best part of Alabama! It was close to closing time and she could not have been more gracious. We tried the fish sandwich, fish platter, chicken sandwich, chopped pork sandwich and plate, nothing was fancy, but it was so so good. The seasonings were perfect and the serving sizes huge. The fish has the bones in it, just like she warned us so know that ahead. The BBQ has a lot of finger licking good sauce, but it's a lot not your dry rub variety. Side dishes were amazing! Potato salad, fries and baked beans-. Yummy! We would definitely stop again! Thank you for your hospitality Brenda's!
Ordered rib sandwich, 4 piece rib dinner with homemade potatoe salad and baked beans. Everything was delicious, tender, and juicy. Loved it.
Do not miss this under any circumstances if you visit Montgomery. My husband knew the original owner and it's still in the same familyThey know how to do the best ribs.
Best BBQ in the gump hands down. I have been going here since I moved to Montgomery 20 years ago. The ribs are fantastic, I prefer mine with sauce on the side. The fish sandwich is also the best in town and their prices are reasonable. I eat here at least once a week. Great food!

Brenda’s did not disappoint. Being from Iowa, I chickened out on the pig ears but everyone who ordered after me did. Now I am left wondering what I am missing out on. Will stop again on our way to Florida next year.
First time in Montgomery and we were looking for great BBQ. The ribs, chicken, and pork, were out of this world amazing. I’d almost drive two hours from Atlanta just to visit Brenda’s.
