Light, airy cafe off the lobby of the Renaissance Battle House hotel downtown Mobile. Friendly service, good specials during happy hour.
This review is only for their pizza. It tasted like it came out of a box and cooked. The inside of the restaurant is very nice. I think the name is to attract tourist.
Good service and local beer
My wife and I were staying at the Battle House and the tavern wasn’t open on Thanksgiving. A friend met us in the cute, bright cafe. The bartender Holly was friendly. They were out of several beers on tap, but the two we tried were fine. We then moved to domestic cans, which needed to be colder. We ordered a pizza which was very good, quick and hot. Over all, not bad.
The best place ever.. I order my lunch just about every day.. super!???
Great place to stop in for a grab and go breakfast or a good slice of pizza for lunch or dinner. Pricing is not over the top and it never takes too long for your order to be prepared. Definitely a must visit spot in the heart of downtown.
I sat on this for a couple days...So my review is (mostly) based on my specific order - Thai BBQ Chicken Wings (1 star for the wings). I sat on this because I wanted to be clear on eveything. The backstory...Sat at the bar and ordered my wings to go.About 40 mins passed by when the bartender came up to me and apologized. My ticket somehow disappeared. She said they were now making my order as she was speaking to me.They were somewhat busy. This is on Sunday evening the day of the hurricane. They might have been understaffed? Maybe bigger crowd as not much else in the area seemed to be open?I was sitting there with no drink order. So she probably forget I was there? While waiting, two others asked if I had been waited on. I said yes. And continied to wait.So back to her apology - she made me a free drink as an olive branch. That about solves most everything Mistakes happen. My dirty martini was fine.So in summary mistakes happen, and they made up for it. Hence the additional star from my one star review...But the Thai BBQ wings. My actual review... Nothing Thai and nothing BBQ about them. The menu says dry rub and smoked (see attached photo). Neither a dry rub was used nor a smokiness detected. Wet sauce definitely used. What flavor... I do not know?? They were not undercooked, but far from being crispy. Very boring. Almost flavorless. The blue cheese dressing was good and plentiful.Go with the pizza I guess. I read it's good??
Didn't go in no people went to Squid Ink around the corner. Good vibe, food, and service. Where people are is a good thing. They are doing it right.
We waltz in out of the rain. Having gone to the Battleship tourist attraction and caught in the rain, we were surprised that the park had no food. A local Google search directed me to a place nearby that was closed and boarded up. This place was open, so we wandered in. It was around 2:30 in the afternoon in downtown mobile. The bartender was the only person working the whole place, and it was a little bit busy. She was incredibly nice and gave us menus. The tables are small, and the pizza was big.We sat down and ordered lunch. Paris had the nachos, I had a chicken salad sandwich, Kai had a pizza, and Mike had a pita sandwich. There were two key highlights although everything we ate was good.Let’s talk about the nachos first. They are piled high, and the plate was HUUGE. I am one of those who likes the melted cheese that is so hot that it makes some of the chips gooey. That is what was delivered! These nachos were very very good.Next up the pizza. My son ordered their large with pepperoni and meatballs. It was so big we moved him to his own table. He thought it was so good that he finished the whole thing off in one sitting. He is a 18yr old 6’3” hungry giant, so whaddaya expect?!? However, I will state that this guy is a pizza guru. He has had pizza in over 10 states and at over 100 different pizza restaurants. So, when he says it’s good, it probably is. ?The food, service, and ambiance was excellent for a in hotel dining bar. It was inexpensive, totaling $65 for four people (before tip). We would 100% eat here again. Thank you for letting the strays come in to eat! ?
Service was delayed but in their defense it was very busy. On the positive side, the good was delicious and the waitress was very kind. Chicken and conecuh gumbo was my choice.
