We come regularly to this neighborhood favorite. We have been coming for years. We have seen them over the years struggle with community and Covid issues like many other restaurants, PLUS hurricane damage at one point as well! They had to take measures to stay afloat, and we are SO GLAD they survived it all!! These are wonderful people that offer attentive service with an honest, friendly attitude who serve up genuinely good food on a consistent basis. It also says something when you look around and consistently see other Latinos there eating at this restaurant. It’s not Americanized Mexican, it’s authentic Latino food. If you come regularly enough, they remember and treat you like family. I have had practically everything on their menu, and honestly have enjoyed it all. Even their beverages are good and have gotten even better through time! We look forward to enjoying our continued visits to El Jalapeño and highly recommend it to you!
We eat here regularly because we can depend on their food and beverages tasting great and being given in good quantity, appreciate the attentive and friendly service, the fair prices, … we are comfortable in their aimply-appointed (not over-done) Mexican-decor atmosphere (with TVs! Haha). If you keep coming back, they remember you and treat you (not just friendly but…) like family. I am so glad they made it through the thin times in recent years. El Jalapeño really is a neighborhood favorite for us! Highly recommend as a casual, authentic Latino restaurant.
Very fresh clean food, Pico is off the grill excellent crisp, salsa is a bit tomatoey, tea is perfectly sweet, fajitas are perfect portion size, queso is a bit runny, overall good food great place.
If I could give more stars, I would. Never disappointed, always nice and courteous waiters(sometimes the owner).
The food was delicous and amazing i loved it. Will go back and eat here again. The waiter we had was awesome and gave me a spanish lesson
Horrible customer service & management. It took a while for us to be waited on. Although, there was only 1 other table with customers. The waiter/manager (Juan) brought very little chips in a basket (not even half full.) When we asked for more he said no because they're "trying to save money & customers try to take extra chips home." Therefore, if he brought more chips... it'd "come out of his check." We will not ever return.
Pretty good tex mex for the area. Only complaint was that the cheese dip was pretty watered down. Maybe order actual queso instead of the cheese dip. Enchiladas were good though
