Short stop in Mobile and we found this nice BBQ place. They smoke on place and directly in the restaurant. This is very unique and a nice usp.We went for the loaded chips with chicken and the BBQ Combo plate (ribs and Chicken tender) with 2 sides. Overall the food was a good option and the sides had a good taste. The loaded chips were awesome and the chicken tender filets had a good crust and seasoning. The ribs had a good smoky taste, but I did not like the BBQ Sauce. Unfortunately they were already covered with the sauce, which for me had too much vinegar and therefore it was a little bit to sour. I like the sweeter ones, but this is a personally thing. The waiters were all very friendly, nice and helpful, even while we came at 20:30 for a dine in.
Dreamland is one of the best known BBQ spots in Mobile. I went there with my folks for a late lunch/early dinner (aka “Linner”) and had a great meal. The interior is nicely decorated with lots of interesting local memorabilia. The staff is incredibly attentive snd the service was top notch. I opted for the combo platter which came with 2 meats and 2 sides. I chose the rib tips and ribs accompanied by Mac n Cheese and baked beans. The meat was tender and the ribs succulent. The sauce was tangy more than sweet and a bit thinner than I like it. Sides were tasty and the table was supplied with sliced white bread and ample extra sauce. Their sweet tea was on point. Not too syrupy and not watered down. Since BBQ for me is 50% sauce, I deducted 1 star. But I admit that’s just personal preference. I’d highly recommend this place. As a bonus, the prices are very reasonable.
Not being from the area, we tried it on a whim. The staff was friendly and inviting, and the dining room wasn't too busy. We picked a booth, which was a little too snug for me. The waitress took our drink and app orders quickly, and brought slices bread and BBQ sauce. She took our order and the food arrived in a timely manner. It was good, but I was disappointed in the fact that there was only one BBQ sauce. The sausage and rib tips were good, Mac and cheese was tasty, but I think the home made chips were too dark. The fried okra was good, but could have used more flavor. It went well with their ranch dressing. All in all, it was a pleasant experience and would definitely check them out again if I'm passing through Mobile.
The ribs they sent home with us were inedible! Dry and burnt and I enjoy a little char on my ribs but what we got was just burnt. It is extremely disappointing that a restaurant would send home food that should have just been thrown away! Very little meat on bones not what I remember from our years of eating at original Tuscaloosa place! They would be horrified that we were served those ribs!
This place KNOWS BARBECUE! Had the fu rack of ribs. Juicy, smokey, full of flavor, incredible! Prices are also so easily good, and service was wonderful!
We heard this is the place to go for ribs but it was very disappointing. There is very little meat on the ribs. They have large bones and you think you’re getting lots of meat bit it’s very thin. Each piece is mostly bone. At first we realized they were very skimpy on the meat and hoped it would get better but didn’t. I told the waitress about it and she said “Yeah ours are different”. If you go, you will be writing the same review as me.
I've been a patron of Mobile's Dreamland since being introduced to it as a young Mercedes-Benz ELITE Systems Technician in 2005. It soothes my heart to know that the restaurant I've come to love is still providing exceptional service with truly unforgettable food.Keep it up guys!!!P.S. The Bread and Sauce is still the best "starter" ever! ?
Like the original, they bring you bread and Dreamland sauce, which I love! The ribs are delicious. Staff are efficient and seem to work well together.
This place was the spot to be in Mobile! We were in town for a few days. Our first initial visit was fantastic. Our food was hot and perfectly cooked. The chicken wings were phenomenal as were the Mac and cheese and french fries. The staff was courteous and awesome! It was so good that we had it each day we were in Mobile. If you are looking for true Southern comfort food, this place is it. I highly recommend it to anyone visiting or living in the area!
Best BBQ in town! Very kind servers and you must take the banana pudding to go if you don't have room for dessert. It is delicious. The tea is really good we well.
