I relocated from Alabama to Jersey and now back in Alabama where I make sure I get by G’s as often as possible. I was extremely home sick missing this southern food. I searched all over and couldn’t find NO BODY like Gs in Jersey, Delaware or NYC.
The staff are very friendly. Be prepared to wait for your food. It's not a fast food joint. The food is good and they give you a decent amount. Prices are reasonable as well. If the owner is there he will come out and speak...if you have any issues he will make sure it's taken care of. My mom and I went while I was in town which I always do when I visit and we had the pork chops, candied yams, greens, and pinto beans. The food is always good no matter what I get.
It's hard to find a good southern home-cooked food restaurant! This place is exactly that. Some of the best catfish ,collard greens and black eye peas and hush puppies. The price isn't bad for the portion of what you get. You won't be disappointed if you try it out. It's my go to place when eating out!
The atmosphere was awesome the food was very delicious, like you want to slap your mama I wouldn't advise it though ???
When I say this is the best restaurant soul food I’ve tasted in a long time, you better believe it! Everything on the menu is delicious and cooked to order. The cakes are amazing as well and the staff is always great. You’ll leave with a smile!
Don’t let the less than desirable location fool you, this place is absolutely amazing. Yes, the furniture is run down. Yes the plates are plastic and from 1970-something, but the prices, the staff, and especially the food more than makes up for the rest. The catfish was superb, but the fried chicken was beyond exceptional! The portion sizes were just right, while the cornbread and sides quite delicious. I would absolutely return to this hidden gem.
I’ve been eating at this restaurant since a friend introduced me to it. My favorite is turkey and dressing day on Friday. However, i do sometimes order throughout the week and get the fried pork chop when I’m too lazy to cook. Today will be my last day supporting this business. I called in a to go order and was immediately addressed with disrespect. The lady answered the phone saying she can’t wait until they close. All i caught was closed so i asked are you close, that’s when she repeated the stupid comment. It’s unacceptable. Very poor customer service and lack of respect. Not to mention, whenever i eat here i ALWAYS leave a $5 tip because they are always busy and work so hard. Definitely regret it after the way i was treated during my call. If you’re having a bad day, GO HOME !
Listen! Make this a must stop. This was so good. I had the fish fillet with turnip greens and Mac and cheese. Fish was perfectly cooked greens were well seasoned as well Mac and cheese looked dry but it was still tasteful Husband had pork chop he said they were a little dry but still good Great fried green tomatoes as well
Man this place is the BOMB!!!!!! They have the best soul food I've had at that I didn't cook myself. I'm talking about smothered Porkchop ?, or plain fried... chicken to die for, slap yourself Collard Greens, my wife said the Mac and Cheese is lip smacking. Then there's the Obama Juice!!! I could go on for at least another 10,000 keystrokes about this place, but I'd be dead wrong if I didn't tell you about the AWESOME TREATMENT that they showed to us. After over the top customer service, we noticed that we had left a set of Alabama bedsheets at the restaurant, we called back and this was after they had closed by GOD'S AWESOMENESS there was someone still cleaning up. The gentleman my wife spoke with came to our hotel to bring us the sheets that we'd let there earlier!!!!! Now if that don't make you want to give them a try.... YOUR LOSS!!!! I'm going to make a special trip back to Huntsville Al. to have another wonderful dinner!!!! I MUST RATE THIS VISIT ANA+ ×10!!!!!!!!!!
I am super stuffed... Best food I've ever had... They put love into their food and their customers, they're very sweet and hard working people... Thank you G's, I definitely will be coming back for more!!!
