Consistency is key with any establishment. It must have been an off day on 6/17. Tried the waffles which I had them before. However, these waffles taste sour and a little too hard for my liking. I couldn’t eat them at all.Everything else was good such as the fries and chicken. I will be taking a hiatus for awhile.
I just had the worst fish and fries ever from Big Shakes. This place used to be the best (in my opinion). I used to be a Culinary Arts Specialist (cook) and can tell old food when it is served. Fish tastes like it was cooked hours before I picked it up. However, I placed the order and showed up as soon as it said it was ready (appr. 25 mins after I placed the order). The fish and fries were soooo tough. And all of the fries were hard too. Some of the worst food I have eaten in a minute. I had big hopes for this place but it’s not the same anymore.
We first travelled to the Martin Rd location to find the doors locked so we headed here hoping it was as awesome as our beloved Martin restaurant. It is not.Let's start with the only reason this place received 2 stars. The chicken and concept is great. Very tasty. Hot and delicious.Nothing else deserved a single star. The atmosphere was terrible. We were not greeted and waited for a long time to have our order taken. Every surface was sticky and it is very dark. The air itself is filled with cigarette smoke - couldn't find the source but my lungs were very grateful the moment I stepped outside. They didn't have any utensils or dips available at the counter, staff weren't very friendly and we got locked in as we tried to leave at 630 pm - as someone tried to enter the staff said they were closed for the night?? Not sure what that was about.We are in mourning. The chicken is great but I can't stomach walking into this location.
Stopped in with my wife to grab a bite and go. After looking at the offerings, for about 6/7 minutes, we decided to order. Walked up to place our order, the young lady behind the counter never acknowledged us. After about five minutes I spoke up and said "We would like to order, are you ready for us. The young lady just shook her head, never looked up at us and continued to do what ever it was she was doing on her phone. We never got the chance to order. We left and went to eat someplace else. Even if the food is good, I'm not spending my money in a place with service like that.
I came in today and sat at the bar.. waited 15 minutes and absolutely nobody greeted me. Then I went to the front counter to order food and asked was anyone working the bar. They young lady said she would send someone. I ordered my food and she was at the bar shortly after. After that, I waited 35 minutes for my food. When I got my food everything was good. They guy next to me went to the front to pay his tab and then walked out the door. I wanted to wait until she returned to give me the bill for my beer.. she never came back. No one did until she realized they guy left. She came back almost another 25 minutes later and handed me the bill for my beer. I placed my card on top of the bill and she said she would come back for it. It took another 15 minutes. Service was absolutely horrible. And everything took absolutely too long. Absolutely worst service I ever received and I never leave bad reviews.
I grabbed a soup and salad from Newks while the rest of family ordered from Big Shake’s. I wanted just a taste of the cat fish. The taste of the cat fish turned into a whole piece of cat fish. Was the best cat fish I have ever had. Add the fried Oreo, was amazing. My sons first bite of the macaroni, “wow! This macaroni is good”! He ate the whole bowl of macaroni. Thank you guys for providing amazing service and food, which we all know is very hard to come by these days. You could tell they cook their food with LOVE.
Dined at the University Drive location in Huntsville. The chicken was ok, just fried with different levels of hot spices dredge. The fish was disappointing, the selection was between a Vietnamese catfish and a whiting fish with skin on. I personally do not eat fish from outside of the USA. There are plenty of good farm raised catfish sources within the US. I had the white beans and corn bread, both were done well, the wife had fries and slaw, which were also well prepared. The total dining experience was overshadowed by the loud music with singular content that made it hard for us to have a quite conversation.
We fell in love with the food in Madison when we tried it, and were really excited when this location opened much closer to our house. We’ve enjoyed the food, but recently have had to wait unreasonable lengths of time for our food. Today we entered for an early dinner and there were only two groups of two people already there. We waited over 45 minutes for our food, and when I went and asked about it they said they were bringing it right out. A few minutes later I met them on their way to the table and asked if they could box it up because we no longer had time to sit and eat. The employee rolled her eyes and walked away with no apology, stating she would bring it back in a box. We will not be back.
So I've been hearing about this spot for a while and finally decided to give it a try....and Im so glad I did!....The enviroment is very clean and welcoming. The smell of well seasoned fried chicken ambushed my nostrills and instantly sent my stomach into a riot. They had a line at the register so i decided to order at the bar and have a drink while i waited for my food. The bartenders name was Talina and she was probably one of the highlights of my visit here! Her attitude, energy and customer service was like non-other! She was just as energetic and entertaining as the Live band they had playing. She made me a deliciously strong drink and made sure to check on me throughout the course of my meal. The 3 piece wings i ordered came out and it was cooked and seasoned to perfection. Golden brown...crispy and spicy! I highly recommend this spot to anyone who has never been! If you have time..stop by the bar and ask for Talina..her drinks are on point!
Every visit is a delight! Food is fresh, hot and delicious. That staff is friendly, welcoming and attentive. What I love the most is the service and their willingness to ensure that each customer is satisfied. Great atmosphere and great good!
