We loved the food! Had the sweetest waitress. She was funny and had a constant smile on her face. She was older than the rest of the staff but she was the best hands-down
Very good and fast. The staff was great and the bbq fries were taste. i wish there were a smaller portion size for lunch no one in my group finished theirs
Went to Saw's in Hoover last Tuesday for dinner around 5:30, decent steady crowd; great experience! It appears that a lot of the patrons are regulars, so it's a friendly environment. Sat at the bar and our server, Emil, was also the bartender; excellent job of taking care of the bar and his diners. The smoked chicken was awesome and the Mac n cheese was the best I've ever had. My wife had the pulled pork over greens over grits; stunning!!! Topped off with banana pudding. Large portions, prices are right, food is great, staff and environment are very good, you can't go wrong. We'll be in there every other week for sure.
We really enjoyed our meal. Some members of our party are not big barbecue fans, but they have plenty of choices for those people. Barbecue wise, the pork and chicken were both well prepared and flavorful. I will note that their sauce is vinegary. I enjoy it, but if you like richer and creamier sauces, this may not be your favorite. The sides here are always point on. Service was solid.
Best bbq I've had in a long time! The cheesy grits and greens were the best sides too. I also got fried green tomatoes and onion rings which were amazing. I loved the pulled pork! The service was amazing too. I can't say enough about how good this place is. Go and check it out for yourself!
This location is nothing but a tourist from the north's idea of what BBQ should be.The good news is that the food is mostly edible and the portion of pork is quite large. The downside is that this is some of the worst BBQ I've ever had. The pork was soupy and absolutely drenched in more cloyingly sweet sauce than necessary. Why they even have sauce on the table is beyond me when it comes out of the kitchen swimming in it. The greens were so incredibly bitter. The mac & cheese was dry. There was more sugar than cabbage in the coleslaw.SAW's should be ashamed to have their name on this location.
Stopped by Saw’s BBQ in Hoover for a quick dinner. I had always heard good things about Saw’s since moving to B-Ham, but this was our first time trying. We were greeted promptly and seated immediately. Service was outstanding. My wife ordered the pulled pork plate and I got the sandwich.Pulled pork was moist and smokey with a hint of Saw’s red sauce. Vinegar slaw was tart and tasty. Baked beans were filled with pulled pork and red sauce. Tangy with just a “hot” bite at the end.Sandwich came with red sauce and pickle. Bun could have been toasted but just personal preference. Fried pickles were hot and crisp on the outside and still juicy on the inside.Portion size was plentiful and we left very full. Our drinks never got below half full before our waitress was refilling them.Restaurant was clean and bright with a sports bar feel. Very good experience with excellent food. Will be back! Thanks for a great meal!!
We love this Saw’s!! The food is delicious and the service is quick and friendly! Terri is our favorite server-she is awesome! Management is all hands on deck too. We will definitely be regulars! So happy to have it in Hoover!
I'm guessing that dining in alone and preferring to sit at a table instead of the bar made the staff resentful. After I placed my order and receive my food, I didn't see my server again except to bring me the check. I tried to get her attention to order additional food. But, she walked away before I could finish. I've visited several other locations and their food truck downtown and generally have great experiences with Saw's. This was not the case this time.
Sorry, not a fan. Although the portion of meat was substantial, we did not like the way it was prepared...not the true pulled pork we are used to in this area...this was greasy & quite "wet" as if it had been stewed or cooked in a crockpot. Sauce served at the table was decent. Coleslaw was good & baked beans fair because they contained a large amount of the greasy meat. The home style onion strings were very good however. Because it's all about the meat when it comes to good bbq, doubtful we would return. A plate with 2 sides is $15 + your beverage.
