Very authentic Chinese food with reasonable priceSeafood tofu hot pot is amazing

I ordered shrimp fried rice and the shrimp was mushy as if someone chewed it before boxing it. I was so afraid to eat it, even my children said mom this shrimp is weird. I will never eat here again. This is very poor quality food.

The Asian grocery store attached felt very familiar lol. Fancy decor and remodel of the restaurant. Waitress was friendly and food came fast. Prices are okay. Tried a taro milk shake that was good but too sweet. Not sure how authentic the food is (I’ve never seen anyone cook with pickled radish and the waitress didn’t seem to understand mala/numbing spice—I still don’t really know what Sichuan style means at Red Pearl.) But nonetheless delicious! I suggest sharing dishes family style with at least one protein/meat dish and a veggie dish. The vibe was nice and we enjoyed our food.

I ordered shrimp fried rice and the shrimp Was mushy as if someone chewed it and boxed it. Something was definitely wrong with the meat, it’s visible to the eye. I’m calling the health department

I ordered shrimp fried rice and rice was mushy and falling apart. The shrimp looked like it had been chewed before boxed. I will never eat here again.

Once again I don't know what was better the service or the food both were excellent greatest Chinese Hideaway there is in Birmingham

Overall pretty good. The Mongolian beef I thought was really good although I've definitely had bigger portions at other Chinese restaurants with the dish being a little heavier on veggies than the beef part and also going a little skimpy on rice. The bubble tea though was a really good value at $4 and was actually a really good level of sweetness whereas most bubble tea places make theirs way too sweet.

I have made a few visits to Red Pearl, but I was inspired to write a review; because a local blog I follow wrote about another Asian/Chinese Cuisine Restaurant being chosen as Alabama’s #1 place to eat. And my thoughts go. “! A PLACE BETTER THAN RED PEARL!?” … (I will investigate this further ! Fo’show) ?AnyWho! In my quest for “all things good” I ran across the 4.5 ⭐️THE Red Pearl Restaurant (By the way… I am giving it 4 stars simply because it was not voted #1 and I want to give respect to the Restaurant who will not be named) Red Pearl is the jewel of Homewood. From the unique way it sits off the main road, to the popular and eclectic Asian market, to the delightful decorative restaurant inside. I love how spacious the booths are for families or groups. The staff is helpful, pleasant, diverse, and are familiar with the menu. The meal comes to the table with a large bowl of steam rice. And everything was hot and fresh. My favorites from the menu are:Appz: Pork Bun, The soups- All of em’! Spring Rolls- no one can eat just one!Entree: Mongolian Beef, General Tso Chicken, Sesame Chicken, Teriyaki ShrimpChicken Fried Rice and the Vegetable Lo MeinGood Red Pinot too- great price for a bottle! The biggest disappointment was not enough wonton chips for the soup! Also a favorite of mine is the fact that they don’t grab a handful of the fortune cookies and place them on the table- the precise amount is passed out keeping the tradition of the cookie going. This restaurant does not disappoint do yourself a favor and check it out for yourself.

We walked in and no staff greeted or seated us. I made eye contact with a few of the servers but they never approached us. Well… after 10 minutes of waiting awkwardly by the door watching the people around us eat (there were tables open), we left and went to another restaurant. Maybe there next time we’ll be able to try their food… after being seated.

Expired groceries- about half expired 4 months ago (mostly chip related items).People were nice, but the food is bland. The egg rolls are wrapped in spring roll wrapping, lo mein noodles werent right either, everything was just.... blah. The shop is cool- I bought a few things I actually used to make the food taste decent. From what Ive heard from regulars it was the best place...maybe precovid?
