Visited for breakfast while on vacation. Beyond the absolute charm of The Ugly Diner, the food was delicious. It was my favorite meal while visiting Gulf Shores. Prices were reasonable and the food was even better. Definitely worth checking out! There is limited seating and high demand, so I recommend getting there early. (We visited on a Sunday, so we might have showed up with a heavier crowd.)

My family stopped in because of the reviews on here. We weren’t let down. We all had the diner plate and pancakes. Coffee is good too. Good friendly service at a good price.

We are visiting Gulf Shores for the month of May and always try to patronize the local restaurants and stores rather than the national brands. We wanted breakfast out and decided on this restaurant and were disappointed from the start. The tables had a very sticky feeling and we asked the server to clean them and he said that is the way the finish is. We ordered and asked if their home fries had onions and he said sometimes. When he brought the food he said they did so he substituted my order with grits without even asking me. I told him no thanks and he left them anyway, The wheat toast was ice cold and you had to butter them from the table which is not acceptable. He never once asked during our eating if everything was alright and did not offer a coffee refill. Needless to say this was an overall negative experience for us and we cannot recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Amazing local diner. It's very small but has the best local feel. You seat yourself and the menu is written on the wall. We went for breakfast, and it was absolutely delicious. We had the country fried steak and the Blue Plate. The bacon was cooked well and the biscuits are massive. AND everything was reasonably priced.Literally one of the best restaurants I've been to in the past few years.

We came in on a Monday and settled down for some breakfast. The hash browns were cooked to perfection with 2 over easy eggs and 3 meats - sausage, bacon, ham. I ordered a side of pancakes as well. Well worth it! The service was excellent and our food came within minutes! On Tuesday we went for lunch. The Ruben sandwich was perfection incarnate. The make their own corned beef and pile it high. Fries were crunchy and hot. The drinks were filled without asking. THE best place to have breakfast and lunch. You cannot leave Gulf Shores without checking it out.

My husband and I got The breakfast of Denver Omelets and they were delicious! He ordered toast with his and it came with sliced potatoes. I ordered a biscuit, it was huge and very good, but didn't realize I would be charged 75 more cents. That wasn't a problem with me but it might be to someone else. Neither one of us finished our potatoes, they seemed like they had been overcooked by reheating. The sweet tea was good too. We had to wait 10 minutes or so to be seated. I'm not sure what the time was but it was around 10 am on a Sunday. While we were eating, more people came in, being seated after a small wait. Four people were waiting on the chairs provided for that when another couple and a single man (I don't know if more were with him) came in and were waiting when the waiter came by the front where they were standing and told them breakfast was only going to be served for about 10 more minutes and he didn't know if he could get to them. Both the couple and the man left. I don't think my rating would have been half as high had I been one of them. We will certainly try eating there again in a future visit to Gulf Shores. The diner is located in a strip mall and was very interestingly decorated. You ordered off the large chalk board on the wall.

Did not know this was The Diner that moved from near Tacky Jacks. So glad we found it. Had a great lunch. Everyone was right the Ruben sandwich was excellent. Service was great. Cannot wait to try breakfast. Will definitely be back.

Don't let the name fool you! We happened on this little quaint restaurant after others had hours long wait times for breakfast. It was wonderful find! Breakfast was delicious, the staff was very attentive and the atmosphere happy. I had fried eggs, bacon, potatoes and a bisquit. It was all very good. My husband got a seafood omelet and it was delicious! Hats off to a very small diner, but one of the best I've ever been too!

What a nice experience. Simple food prepared to perfection. The Reuben sandwich was out of this world delicious and large enough to share. The plate lunch was good and served with “real” mashed potatoes.

We were drawn in by the name of the restaurant “The Ugly Diner” and we were so happy we stopped today! My husband ordered the burger medium rare and it was exactly that. I ordered the BLT on Texas toast and it was perfect. The fries were crispy and salted just right. The service was excellent! Our waitress (Terri?) was so friendly, prompt and thoughtful, which is a rarity these days! Thank you! This place is a true gem. Excellent food, hard working and friendly staff, great prices. Well worth a stop, but remember they are only open till 2.
