I've been going to this restaurant since I was a child. I'm 53 now and it is still delicious! I also had the same waitress! So glad Mike and I went here to eat while visiting my hometown. Go here! You won't regret it!
I have always loved Newburns but it doesn't even taste the same anymore. No more whole fish served and now they have changed their fries. Definitely will not be going back.
Food is great!! Manager is very racist though was fixing to let a caucasian man walk out with my wallet and keys that he knew wasn’t his, and then had the nerves to ask me was this my stuff!
The sign says it all...HOME OF FAMOUS CATFISH!! Locally operated and very well established in the community. The dining experience is a simple one with good, fresh mostly fried foods. The service is always good and the fish is crispy and delicious! They only serve filet fish now (no longer whole catfish). Slaw is just ok, hush puppies are decent, but the fish is always great!! If you like catfish you will have to give them a try...don't think you'll be disappointed!!
This review is for a lunch visit by three friends approximately 2 weeks ago. The fish was great as always, hot and very tasty. The service was excellent. The place is very clean with masks and gloves worn by all employees. Never a bad experience at Newbern’s.
Very friendly and fast service. Everyone was very pleasant and polite. Kids had grilled cheese and fries and wife and MIL split a catfish plate. They said it was good and had a nice flavor. I had chicken tenders, which I was hoping would also be fresh and hand breaded. Disappointed they weren't. They were frozen pre-breaded strips and had no flavor or taste. Could have made these myself at home. Won't order again. Slaw was good and the fries, well they are crinkle cut which I prefer. Overall good visit and would recommend. Just won't recommend the chicken tenders.
Great service!!! Had the large catfish plate. AMAZING!!!! The catfish was perfect. The slaw is some of the best slaw I've had. Hushpuppies were not overpowering and were great.
Newberns is the best fish place in town. We love it. Their slaw is amazing and the hush puppies are the best. Great atmosphere and amazing godly people who run it. ❤
