Been eating here for over 45 Years.. the food is no longer the same now that Dobbs passed away.. the food is HORRIBLE.. Hamburger steak was not fully cooked, hot dog buns were soggy, coleslaw was too finely shredded with a bad vinegar taste, the pulled pork was dry and tasted NOTHING LIKE it used to.. I WILL NEVER GO BACK..
The very best barbecue I've ever had & the definitely the best baked beans I've ever had, please don't tell my daddy I said that! Staff was extremely nice! Highly recommend to anyone going through Dothan Alabama! You will not regret stopping here!
Was really excited to try this spot , considering how long it’s been around. But they gotta change something, bbq was decent, sauce was a joke. Same for the potato salad & so was the coleslaw. On a positive note the tea was 10/10!
The food just wasn't good plus my sides was cold .
Went to get a pound of pork to take home. When I got in the car I opened the container to find a tiny bit of meat floating in a ton of sauce. I didn't want sauce and they did fix it to what I ordered. I guess they didn't think I would bother to come back. Wish I had taken a picture of it.The coleslaw was not good and I like almost any type of salad item. The meat was dry so I had to add water to it and heat it up. Will not go back. My neighbors said it used to be good but its gone way down.
Was not that impressed after finally going here after hearing about this place and how good it is since I was kid. Now their strawberry shortcake was amazing.. but considering those claim to fame is s good bbq I can see tell you they are only open because of the old-timers that swear by the place and refuse to try anywhere different.,
On menu it says meat is hickory smoked with reddish tint. No. What my husband got was raw uncooked hamburger steak. My food was lukewarm. Do better.
Place is not much to look at, and to be honest feels pretty dirty. Ordered a couple of lunch specials and a chicken BBQ plate. Food was decent, but not great. Servers were very attentive and friendly, but won’t be going back.
It is great gorgeous a quick lunch. Pulled Pork kind of bland. Coleslaw is tasty.
I wish I had something redeeming to post about this BBQ establishment but it just wasn’t there. We ordered the pork bbq plate “chipped” with collard greens, baked beans and fries as well as the bbq plate combo with fried okra and baked beans and iced tea, sweet and unsweetened with Equal requested.Packets had all apparently been saturated by tea and left to dry out before brining to table. The sweetener inside was also various shades of brown and did not dissolve well, so I skipped the tea.The chipped meat was crumbly and very dry even though there was a heavy slathering of their version of bbq sauce (ketchup with a splash of vinegar). The only thing that distinguished the three meat varieties was that the two ribs were still on the bone. No smoky flavor here and absolutely none of that slow smoked succulence that comes from the fat remaining on the meat during cooking to give it that moist, sinful flavor!Baked beans were unusually firm to the bite and tasted mediocre. Fries and okra were of the frozen variety and heavily breaded. So disappointing with the whole experience. Won’t be back or recommend.Oh, and let’s not forget the final detail that made this place so memorable for us: the condom machine in the bathroom. Just in case the idea of hot meat gets you going. Sadly, the meat here was not.My advice: If you’re on your way home from a nice week of vacation at the beach, don’t ruin your afterglow with stopping here. Secondly, if you live in the Dothan area and have any talent in the kitchen, this is a great missed opportunity calling out for someone to offer your town a fantastic BBQ restaurant!!I’d skip the condom machine though.
