We have eaten here several times and I have never gotten anything that wasn't great! All the meat options are fantastic - ribs, pulled pork, chicken, brisket - and the sides are great too. And I can't leave out the strawberry shortcake...YUM!!
Hands down the best BBQ Iv ever had in Alabama. Brisket was awesome. Gotta go back and try the rest now!
You know the smoked meat is really good when you do not need the bbq sauce on the meat! But having said that, Scruggs bbq sauce is absolutely delicious! All their meats are very flavorful... whether pulled pork, pulled chicken, ribs etc. My husband favorite is their lemon-pepper wings. Their baked beans are absolutely the best I have had. And their turnip greens are my favorite! As can be guessed, we eat there / carry-out from there often!
Brisket. Just brisket and more brisket! The best I have tried everywhere.
Best BBQ Ever! I always thought I had to go to Texas for great brisket and Tennessee for great pulled pork, but alas-I was told to try Scrugg's in Decatur, and boy-oh-boy! Best barbecue I've ever eaten (and I have lived in both Texas & Tennessee!). I had a late lunch-early dinner and ordered the brisket & pork combo. I also ordered sides of macaroni & cheese but they had run out. I then asked for baked beans, but again...they had run out. That may seem a bit disappointing, but to me that's a good sign showing that they sell a lot of good food! It also gives me the excuse to come back and try some of their other items. If you happen to be in the area of Huntsville/Madison, Athens, or Decatur, then come on down and blow up your taste buds! You're welcome!
Worth a stop if you’re in the area. I had the pull pork sandwich and ribs with fries and turnip greens. Very tasty. Great portion. Service was very good.
If you’re craving a salad, sandwich, or baked potato with smoked meats, we’ll you can’t go wrong with this place. All are well worth the money, and very delicious…you will not be disappointed. Stop in and try for yourself, the young lady that takes the orders has great customer service too. Places like this make it easy to spend your money and keep coming back. Love it❤️❤️
My husband and I stopped there on Thursday afternoon for lunch for the first time. We can’t say enough about this place. Everyone was friendly and the food was awesome. We both had the pulled pork plate, both of us had baked beans the best I’ve ever had in a restaurant. He had French fries which he stated was fresh hot and crispy and I had coleslaw which was awesome. It’s all homemade the portions were large so you didn’t leave hungry. We will definitely be back and we would recommend this for good barbecue and homemade sides. Keep up the good work.

Absolutely stellar BBQ and sides. The Sunday menu with chicken and dressing, fried chicken meatloaf… Wow. The brisket is juicy and tender. I got a whole BBQ chicken and a pound of brisket for Easter, and it was a BIG hit. The food is always delicious and the service is always friendly. We’re frequent visitors!
