This is southern comfort food at its best! The cafeteria style is perfect for a quick meal, or delicious meal to go. Owner was sweet and friendly! Will definitely be coming back!
Best fried chicken (and mac and cheese) EVER!
I left fat and happy. Chicken and ribs will not disappoint.
Popped in for a quick bite after a longer than anticipated hearing and maaan it was so good! Lasagna tasted fresh and homemade, greens were great, tea was sweet. Food was hot and ready when we got there. Not a heavy, but a steady crowd and I can see why. Construction crews, professionals, and little old ladies were all there and for good reason. Not fancy at all, but a big win for a meat and three.
Today we stopped in to try the Meat & 2 (or 3). We'd been wanting to find another good Country/Soul Style Meat & sides place, that wasn't too far, ever since City Cafe closed. The location is a small little place. Center block building. Decor & dinning area are very basic. No frills. Not alot of options to choose from (maybe because it was a Sat.??♂️). We had the Ribs, Hamburger Steak, Mac-n-Cheese, Baked Beans, Mashed Potatoes w/ Gravy & Rolls. The good- Everything was definitely fresh & hot. Especially for a Saturday. The Hamburger Steak had gravy & onions and was definitely good. I just wish it had been bigger. I believe it was the smallest I've ever eaten in life. It was about the size of the palm of my hand. Most Hamburger Steaks are about the size of your hand, including fingers. So far as food, this is where the good stops.. The mediocre- Baked Beans were good. Not bad, not the greatest. Mashed Potatoes seemed instant but good. However, we think they were saved by the gravy from my Hamburger Steak. The Mac n Cheese was very cheesy, but amazingly had no flavor. Just kinda blah. Rolls were fresh out the bag, literally. Cold. Not even warmed, buttered, nothing. The worse- sadly, the Ribs. I hate to say this one because they were seasoned GREAT, but were far from the fall off the bone type. I had to literally fight to pull them off the bone. Meat was not tender whatsoever. It was such a chore, I gave up & didn't finish them about 1/2 way thru the 2 bones you get. Staff was awesomely friendly & nice. Price- for the Meat & 2, its $11.99 ($13.99 for 3). Drinks are $2.49. This is definitely pricey for what you get, quality, etc. To compare- my 2 favorite Meat & 2 (or 3) places (13 Grill & Rising Smoke, both Haleyville, AL.) are a flat $8 for 2, $9 for 3. This includes plate, bread, drink & dessert. The portions are larger, there's more options (6+ meats/10+ sides) & the food is alot tastier. So, $11.99 here seemed waaay overpriced. I'm not going to say I WOULDN'T eat here again, but it won't be anytime soon or making a special trip when I do. I'm choosing to "Not Recommend" based on value (portion, tastiness vs price) & food was nothing to really rave about.
Great food. I have ate 3 different plates from there and have not been disappointed at all.
Food ok....have to weigh on your self, have to ask for napkins, refill on tea..
I went in about 30 minutes before closing time. 1530
