Easily the best BBQ in North Alabama, and I am including Jim & Nicks, and the no longer any good Johnny's (which was great back in the 1970's, but has fallen to the bottom of the barrel, 50 years later) - the only thing I can deduct from this fabulous BBQ at Southern Hickory being a perfect 10, is that they (strangely) add mayonnaise to a BBQ sandwich unless you tell them "no mayonnaise", which you certainly should. When evaluating BBQ, remember to specify, no sauce, so you can taste the actual FLAVOR of the meat!
This place has been around since I was a little kid as far as I can remember. And in my opinion, beats any other bbq potato in Cullman. Employees could be a little friendlier. But it's always so so good. 10/10 recommend!
Picked up a turkey sandwich and a barbecue sandwich both for excellent. I just love the turkey sandwich.

I am not sure any of the people giving this place 4 and 5 stars visited the same place I did.I grew up in the south and heave had all kinds of bbq. I really have trouble calling the pork meat I just had BBQ and smoked would definitely be out of the question. No seasoning or anything, no sauce and trust me it needed sauce.Then there was the vegetable soup that was supposed to pass as stew. Nothing had any type of bbq flavor.I will never venture here again.

I wished I could give 0 stars this is the 4th time we have been shafted. Get home all our food isn't in bag after asking if everything is in bag. Barbecue was three quarters of a pound. Last time I'm buying from this place. Just got scammed again.
The meat and sandwiches are really good but the potato salad is premade which I don't really care for.also they still won't let anyone sit on the patio outside to eat. ?
They have the best barbecue in town. The servers are so nice. I tried their potatoe salad and it was delicious
