Personally, I probably try any place with the name Jonathan, Johnny, or any resemblance of that name. Bias you could say, ha ha. Anyways, this place was really hopping and pretty crowded when I came through. Since being on the road opted to get carry out. The staff was friendly but a bit flustered with the crowd. I got the classic pull pork sandwich and half and half tea. The pulled pork didn't have flavor per say (no smokiness or hint of woody flavor) that I have come to love about local BBQ joints. It was very moist and filling. I didn't order the Cole slaw or sauce on the sandwich, but in this case it was welcomed. The Cole slaw didn't have that vinegary punch but did add texture. The sauce was a little too sweet but helped the sandwich in that flavor department. Overall not a bad experience, but not that I would go out of my way to eat there again.
The food was fantastic! Loved their homemade bbq sauce. Bought a bottle to bring home! The waitress was friendly and food was brought quickly. Not a fancy place but very clean. We were just passing by and tried it! Can’t wait for our next trip to Florida so we eat there again.
I had the half dark meat chicken plate. The baked beans were okay, but a bit spicy for me.My Dad had the small BBQ plate, something he's eaten for decades.This place gets busy and has family packs. So if you order ahead, you can have it brought directly to your vehicle when you prepay.
Went with family that was traveling for lunch. The potatoes were huge and packed full of meat, cheese, butter and sour cream. The red sauce was a little more spicy than the last time but they serve it warm. I ended up mixing the white and red together and it was perfect on my children potatoe. The atmosphere was great and the restaurant was clean as well as the staff been pleasant.
I've seen people post the the meat was fatty, but I think it has the right amount of fat. Some fat is flavor. Wasn't sure I liked the sauce at first, but it's sweet with a tiny bit of heat in the background. I really like it. Fries were good but not great.
Food usually very good but not this time. 3/3/2022 my BQ wasn't hot and the sweet potato casserole was terrible it is usually Awesome. Not sure what's going on but not going back for now. There was 4 of us we all felt the same about the food! Tea was good.
Stopped in for lunch. A great atmosphere with a very warm and extremely friendly staff. Everyone was very welcoming. The food was very good and I have no complaints about the food or service. I can’t wait until I’m traveling through this area again because I’ll definitely stop for lunch. I would recommend this restaurant!!
Johnny’s is always great. We’ve never had a bad meal there. Their loaded baked potato are amazing.
Expected so much better for the price.My half chicken was off the bone. Expected four pieces of chicken on the bone and with plenty of BBQ sauce, not even enough beans to taste, order double if I knew how skimpy they are with them. Cat fish, she threw in the garbage so bad. Throw your fries on top of your pork to get soggy instead of wrapping separately. All that money on three plates should have been much better!!!
Was expecting great BBQ because everyone raves about the place. Meat was fatty, more fat than meat. Fill you with french fries though. Service was great, that's why I gave a 3 vs a 1.
