I've never been disappointed with the pizzas that Tortugas puts out. They might take longer but it's worth it. I've had deep dish pizza from other establishments but not as good as Tortugas. There thin-crust pizza is my favourite. Whether it is a dine in takeout.
Best pizza south of Chicago.
Tortugas is easily the best pizza in town, and has been for over 10 years. The Chicago style pizza is the best you'll ever have, and the thin crust is perfection too. You can't go wrong with anything on their menu. The owners are the sweetest, kindest people on the earth, and you can tell they truly care about giving us high quality food. We've been coming to Tortugas for over a decade, and it's even more delicious now than ever. If you want the best pizza you'll ever have in your life, go check them out. You will not be disappointed.
I would give a 3.5, if that were an option. I finally tried their deep dish pizza after giving in since I have not been back to my hometown to get one from a childhood spot I love. I ordered the traditional with 1 additional item added, unfortunately, I just didn't like my deep dish too much. It just tasted too bland for me (especially, the sauce and dough) and the chicken was a little too tough for my liking. The cheese galic bread with jalapenos I ordered was pretty good though. I just can't see myself ordering another deep dish or other type of pizza mainly because I didn't like the sauce and dough. I really wanted to like it, but my taste buds said otherwise. I also want to recognize the customer service. The lady at the register was very nice and the whole vibe inside seemed very relaxed, open, and friendly. Although I probably won't go back, they are definitely worth trying out and seem to be very popular.
Amazing as always. My family has been coming here for years. My wife is from Chicago and she ALWAYS says it feels like home. Not a single bad experience here ever. Staff is incredible. Mallory played with our 18 month old daughter and made sure she had a great time. It's truly a wonderful experience every time we get a chance to stop in. Best staff we've ever had the pleasure to meet. Every time.
I have been to this restaurant many times over the years since the day it opened. I'm from Chicago and this was my taste of home away from home. Today was NOT that. I ordered the deep dish as usual, it has the deep dish look without the Chicago deep dish flavor. Maybe ingredients have changed. So sad.
I absolutely LOVE this place!! The food is AMAZING and the staff is super friendly! They always greet me by name! I work a couple doors down from them at Miracle-Ear and it’s so convenient! I cannot recommend them enough!
Sauce was amazing and it was the first deep dish chicago pizza I have ever had and it was amazing. Waitress was wonderful and gave our kiddos pizza dough to play with to keep us entertained. This is a mom and pops business who is very community oriented. Its not the best pizza, but still great. Pizzas dont come out super fast but the atmosphere and service are golden. Owner asked how was everything and I was honored.

I LOOOOOOOOVE coming to Tortugas. I love all the turtles they have from people everywhere. I recommend the meatball sub and lasagna. I wish they had some merchandise, I would've love a cup or a hat. Oh well, I do have pictures and that always puts a smile on my face.
