Thank you to all at Satterfield’s for an absolutely delicious dinner and a wonderful evening in Birmingham! My only regret: we were so engaged in enjoying the food, conversation, drinks, and atmosphere (all under the thoughtful and watchful eye of our excellent server, Kenneth) that we didn’t take more photos of the beautiful food! The fabulous menu is updated daily, so be sure to check their website. When the server asks if you’d like bread, do say Yes and enjoy delicious, warm mini cornbread muffins. Our table of six (friends gathered from GA, PA, and OH) started by sharing two orders of the heirloom tomatoes and watermelon salad, as well an order of the black-eyed pea hummus, and the Comte cheese selection. For dinner, three ordered the Beef Tenderloin, two order the recommended Gulf Red Snapper, and one ordered the Chicken Paillard. Everyone was thrilled with their meals, which were filled with flavor and expertly prepared. Kenneth suggested a wine that all would enjoy. Two of our group had just arrived home from 20 days in Europe. They sent their compliments to the chef, as their steak was some of the best they had tasted, anywhere. We somehow found room to order -and enjoy!!- the creme brûlée and the beignets. Delicious. It was a night for the memory books. Thanks to all who made it so. PS & a Fun story: one in our group is a true “gin and tonic” man, and is quite particular about how they are made. He commented that he’s never had one as good as those he makes at home. Kenneth mentioned this to the bar tender, who appeared at our table to accept the challenge. And yes - he impressed our friend greatly. Such excellent attention to us and to details.

Been a while since we've been to this old favorite. We sat at the bar and had drinks, apps, dinner, and dessert. Great food and experience all around. Good to see Satterfield's living up to its reputation! Going back soon!

Excellent local restaurant in Birmingham! Terrific service and very friendly staff who take great care of you! Good menu selections and very impressive wine list as well as other spirits. Nice atmosphere that is perfect for an enjoyable night out with family or friends.

A few weeks ago, I would have said that Satterfield's was my favorite restaurant in Cahaba Heights. Last week, something changed. The Fritto Misto, which I always order was so tough, it was almost inedible. The batter was no longer crispy and light but heavy. Also, no oysters were missing even though the menu still had them as an item. My friend's pork chop was so tough she had to ask for another knife to see if that would go through the dry meat. Has there been a change in the chef?

My wife and son visited last night. The server was very inattentive and not extremely knowledgeable of the entree details or descriptions. (The restaurant wasn’t very crowded-so no excuse for this.) The cheese appetizer/Burrata was decent but puny. The bread offered was likewise sparse and not special. My wife and son had the filets and they were satisfied with their selection. I had the pork chop and it was terribly overcooked and extremely tough. I could barely cut through the tasteless meat. When the serve asked if I liked my pork chop I said no, it was very tough. His response - “but at least it filled you up.” My response - “so would a shoe.” I was not going to post a review. However, I read a similar review of the restaurant and the terrible pork chops - so I felt obligated to post this in an attempt of saving another diner from an unfortunate meal.

New to Birmingham and trying to explore local places. Looking for dinner ideas at the last minute and my daughter pulled them up on a list. She called and voila! Though they were fully booked, there were seats at the bar for us. Ten minutes later, we pulled into the (quite small) parking lot and the valet magically appeared. Full disclosure - we expected nice but not valet parking nice. Turns out someone else nabbed the seats at the bar but they had a table for us. Nice white linen, sassy but professional server, and a conservative old money atmosphere … no complaints, although (again) not what we expected from the online description. The food was very good and the presentation was excellent. Wine list was extensive and my daughter’s cocktail met her high standards (she was a bartender in a previous life). But the highlight … besides the dry one liners delivered by our server … was dessert. There were too many appetizing choices so we each chose something unique and shared. They were exceptional! I will be back to enjoy another great meal and highly recommend you do the same.

The service was good. The appetizers were good. We were a party of 6. All 6 of our entree's were terrible. That is the only word to describe the dinner. The snapper was burned. The okra, served with the snapper, was very tough/chewy. The pork chops were so tough, with very little meat and mostly gristle/fat. The scallops were burned, also. The coffee was cool. We decided not to chance dessert, after our unsavory entree's. This was a business dinner with clients from out of town, & it was embarrassing. Of course, it was expensive. Having been a waitress myself, I am surprised that the wait staff did not see the burned entree's & address it in the kitchen.

We've dined at Satterfields several times when we have visited Birmingham over the years. We have always had a delightful dining experience and this most recent visit was more of the same. Creative entrees with a regional bent, well-prepared and attractively presented. We can always find something we like in their wine list. We will be back.

Best food we've had in Birmingham! (And we've had a lot of fantastic food in Birmingham.) Every single item from drinks to dessert was phenomenal, and service was top-notch. We've already decided to go back, and cant wait!

Excellent service, food, and atmosphere. Steak tartare app, snapper and duck entrees were on point. Snapper highly recommended! Deserts were spectacular. Martin, the manager, made sure everything was done right.
