Purchased 2 family portions - Portions were scant. Brisket was not cooked well or overcooked. Either way, not sufficient. They said sides could feed four… four people or four squirrels? I won’t be going back anytime soon.

My brother came to visit me in Savannah and we drove to Charleston just to experience the Rodney Scott BBQ restaurant. I think Rodney's story is fantastic, but when you enter the space it's like any other restaurant chain. The only thing original was a disco ball hung in the center of the ceiling. The staff looked overworked. There was only a picture of RS on the wall, no sense of his story or the journey to awesome BBQ cooking. So many missed opportunities to be creative from the menus to the decor but nope. The food was unfortunately average. I left underwhelmed and my brother truly disappointed, bummer. The place was full of people however and I hear the original restaurant has the vibe of authenticity.

Really solid BBQ! The main downside is that the portion size on some items is on the smaller side considering the price point (note that the paper menus show lower prices than the board/what I was charged - not cool). The first time I came, I ordered the potato and added pork… it was big and delicious! The second time, I ordered a pork sandwich and side salad and left a little hungry. Their sauces (on each table) are really good - ask for a side of white sauce, too!

We visited for dinner and sampled the 3 meat 2 side platter. We got brisket, pulled pork, and smoked chicken, With Mac and cheese, hush puppies, and colored greens. Hands down, the hush puppies were the best thing - a solid 5. The meats and other sides were average. However the price and value and value the proposition was not good. Therefore we will not be visiting again. The dining area was comfortable, but the music was too loud. The servers were knowledgeable and cordial, and the bathrooms were clean. Barbecue is a tough market in Alabama, and I don't see this place sticking around.

We stumbled on Rodney Scotts whole hog barbecue on Sunday night. What a find! So friendly and great service. They need to do a better job busing tables and wiping them off between patrons but other than that it was an excellent experience. Really pleasant venue with great atmosphere. Outside tables as well. The brisket sandwich sliced was fantastic. Homemade coleslaw and homemade potato salad were both outstanding. Each had a unique flavor. Fantastic hush puppies as well. Perfectly cooked and accompanied with butter. The smoked chicken plate was excellent as well. Would definitely go back next time in Birmingham area; especially to try the pork and catfish.

Food was excellent here. The service was stellar and the ambiance and diverse seating options was a plus. Prices are a bit high but if you can afford it I'd totally recommend checking Rodney Scott's BBQ in Birmingham.

Always a decision between the ribs and the wings. Also best collards and corn bread ever. Friendly staff. If you like Rodney’s food and like to cook, get his cookbook

Four of us had a Saturday lunch. We started with 6 wings, they are 2 bucks apiece, but really delicious. My wife and I shared a three meat plate with turkey pork and ribs, and collards and baked beans as sides. The other couple did the same with pork, brisket and chicken with potato salad and Mac and cheese. All the meats were really great even the turkey! The ribs were perfect. The white sauce was really good as were the other sauces. We all liked combining them. We also had a cup of brisket chili which was very good. They showed me through the pit and I loved it. The space is bright and comfortable. The staff was very fun and friendly. It was a great lunch!

I enjoyed eating here. The chicken was delicious and that mac and cheese was awesome. i took me some pork skins home for a snack and they were good too!!

Rodney Scott’s is cool and casual BBQ joint that is serious about serving some hog. My family enjoyed all of their selections. The pulled pork and brisket did not disappoint. They have a sauce available for everyone. The staff was pleasant and attentive. We even met the Pit Boss who gave us a tour as suggested by our server. Real courteous team! We saw the smokers and everything. He even walked us through the process of how they set up the whole hog and prepare the meat. There is a huge tub of rub whereby an actual mop is utilized to season the meat. They have a system! In short, the food is good, there is full bar, you can order to-go, and it’s family friendly. Pitmaster Rodney Scott is on to something.
