My husband and I visited Ross Bridge for our 38th anniversary. I was thanked for my Bonvoy Titanium status and got to draw a paper out of a bowl as a bonus. I received 500 Bonvoy points which was added to my account. No suite upgrades were available as they were fully booked with two conferences. An upgrade to a full breakfast bar had already been placed on my account. The room had been recently renovated and the balcony overlooked the terrace and pool as well as the waterfall area. The pool has a walk-in area as well as a slide and plenty of lounge chairs. There were a lot of families there so not much adult space. Be sure to catch the bagpipes played at sunset. The breakfast bar included fruits, pastries and other hot items as well as made to order omelets. We did not eat any other meals on-site but grabbed a beer in the bar. We sat outside and relaxed as we enjoyed our beer as we listened to the singer who played each night. We have stayed here before and ordered burgers pool side and have always been pleased. Two Robert Trent Jones golf courses are available when staying at Ross Bridge. The Ross Bridge course at the resort and Oxmoor Valley which is about a mile away (we had our car so not sure if the resort will shuttle you.) My husband has played them both and they are different style courses. Ross Bridge is a little hilly so he actually prefers Oxmoor Valley. We had a very relaxing and enjoyable stay and can’t wait to go back!
The Renaissance Birmingham Ross Bridge was the perfect venue for our Administrator's Retreat. The facilities were comfortable, the technology was good, and the food was excellent. When there was an issue with the technology, there were people on site to give assistance.
We loved the breakfast so much we invited family with dietary restrictions to eat there with us. Even the gluten, dairy, egg, and nut free relative was happy. When we returned home my daughter wouldn't eat the breakfast I made in the hopes that one of Chef Billy's delicious omelettes would appear. We also loved the pool and the 4th of July celebrations that took place on the 3rd. The only complaint was with housekeeping. For some reason this luxury hotel has decided not to clean the rooms every day. You have to request every day that you want the room cleaned. Even though we went through the motions of requesting the room to be cleaned each day they would not always come. That led to having to request more towels and shampoo. The shampoo arrived, but not the towels. We ended up borrowing towels from the pool area when needed. I think the housekeeping issues may be due to staff shortages. Overall we would return to Alabama to stay at this hotel. It made our trip worthwhile.
Overpriced. Outdated. Furniture through out old and falling apart. Only thing saving this property are the staff and I think they are dwindling because they are overworked. Place is understaffed. They are not a 4 Diamond hotel. The outdoor pool is small and overcrowded . Price to value ratio is not there.
Do not stay here, they are thieves!I paid in full using points when booking for a room for one day at the Renaissance Birmingham Ross Bridge Golf Resort. The booking was done via marriott.com. When I went to check in, the hotel front desk asked for my credit card for incidentals only. When I checked out, they confirmed there was no incidental charge and gave me printout showing $0 due. However, they charged my credit card for the room. The attitude seems to be -- we have this customer's credit card details, why not fool around with it? I reported this to Marriott over the phone within an hour after checking out. They assured me that the amount will be returned to my credit card within 72 hours but that has not happened yet after 5 days.Regarding the stay, the room and bathroom were clean but old. Bathroom did not have an exhaust. The containers for body wash and conditioner were empty which I reported when checking out. Fortunately, the shampoo container was not empty. The hotel staff kept banging my door from before 8:00 am even though I had the "do not disturb" lock on and I was supposed to check out that day. I saw cleaning staff with no face mask on and coughing heavily inside the rooms.Overall, a very mediocre and overhyped hotel infested with thieves.
Upon arrival, we were issued the wrong room and key. After traveling all one wants to do is relax. It was impossible to do so due to a clogged shower. After reporting the issue to the front desk, we left to allow them to work and resolve the issue. When we returned TWO HOURS LATER, the shower was untouched!Once again, we reported the issue to the front desk who claimed they called maintenance 5 times. Maintenance finally arrived with a nasty attitude after we notified the front desk we were checking out... How convenient. Of course the front desk apologized several times and said that I should expect an apology call from the hotel manager...It has been exactly a week and I am still waiting for a call. Needless to say, I do not recommend staying here.
Lovely property, great staff - friendly, helpful, wonderful personality - easy to get around, lots of amenities. We had a lovely time. Only con: Gift shop/coffee shop could use an upgrade. Not many good or beverage options. Hardly anything to purchase in the gift shop.
Not a great experience. When we booked our rooms we requested two connecting rooms, we have 4 kids. Called the morning of check in. The front desk confirmed that our rooms were connecting. Arrived to the hotel around 3pm friday, june 24. At check in were told we were no longer in connecting rooms and there were no more available. My husband was so angry. He requested a manager but was told there wasn’t one available to speak to him. Hotel was very understaffed. I can’t say I will ever come back. Food and drinks were very expensive. Service was mediocre. Pool was small and crowded. For the price of a room per night, I expected better.
The hotel was average. This was my first time staying there. I have mixed feelings because I could visible see dust on coffee tables on the third floor, green stuff was on the carpet and food boxes stayed on the table in front of the elevator for two days . My room was good. The staff was friendly. But the eye view cleanliness was not good for this to be a 4 - 5 star hotel.
Great service, very clean refreshment room. We got a room with a nice view over the golf course. A lady who did a check in for us told us that our room is not ready yet probably about 30 minutes or so. So we decided to wait for it. As we were waiting about 45 minutes for the room that we were supposed to wait for but then she said we are getting a room downstairs instead. Somehow she messed up and gave the room we were waiting for to someone else. However, We are Thank you to another Gentleman who fixed it so we have a different room upstairs as we wanted it upstairs with fresh air. He even gave us a nice compliment.
