Helen was everything I had heard and more. Beginning with the Angel Biscuits and Early Summer Tomato Pie while sipping on a Wallflower that contains Roku Gin, White Peach Matcha, Blanc Vermouth, Segura Viudas Cava. The entree was Whole Gulf Flounder a la Plancha with golden roasted potatoes followed up with Chilton County Peach Torte! Make the reservation and enjoy 2 hours of the best atmosphere, service, cocktails and wine, and yes the food!

Great experience, delicious food and “WOW” service. Amanda was our server and was fantastic. Everything from our salad to our entree was over the top and done perfectly.
This is a really nice restaurant. Great atmosphere, very good service. We will come back. Everyone who had the duck enjoyed it. The appetizers were very good. I just had bad food. My short rib was inedible. Tough as leather and I didn’t enjoy the marinade. I would have sent it back except we were with a group. The mushrooms were over seasoned with a balsamic that had a twang bite to them.
Right before the Christmas holidays I met a friend in Birmingham and lucked into a reservation at Helen. We had the most wonderful server and incredible dinner. The atmosphere is hustling & bustling, which I like. We were seated upstairs which was fun to see out and over below. The specialty drink was so different but absolutely divine. My date who has traveled the world, said his filet was the best he has ever eaten anywhere. As in anywhere! I highly recommend dinner but have heard lunch has great offerings and nice portions. Don’t miss out!!!
You have to make reservations fast in advance and I see why. The biscuits and butter were amazing. We loved the kale salad and the cauliflower. We both got snapper and enjoyed it. Bartender did excellent job with the lemon drops. The waiter was awesome; extremely personable and knowledgeable. It is expensive, so be prepared for that, but the quality and experience was well worth it.
5 stars all around. Service was great and so was the food. We had the trout, the snapper, and the pork chops for mains. All were unique, memorable, and worth going back for. The sides are family style. We had the rice and squash casserole, the potatoes, and the cauliflower. Again, I would recommend all of them. For dessert, we had the biscuit ice cream and lemon bar. Both were delicious. And, you must start with the biscuits! Overall, it was a great experience. The only downside is that you must valet park. But that minor inconvenience is definitely worth it.
We had a late lunch here a few days ago and we’re very happy with our selections. We had the bologna sandwich and the double cheeseburger. The bologna was smokey and of a high quality. Nostalgic and tasty. The burger was a perfect combination of thin patties topped with melted cheese and shredded lettuce along with mustard. Quite good, nothing left on my plate. The chips were quite good as well and the angel biscuits are a must. Service was super friendly and quick. Bar service was quick on the beverages. Top notch food that was worth the advance reservation. Everything comes in shareable portions and the ambiance is perfect for a date night in the city.
