Once we got there, we found a place to park. Once inside we could tell that it was busy, there were maybe 4 tables available on the inside and there was already 3 parties in front of us. Once we got to the counter, the cashier was friendly and he took our order. We went get our drinks where on of the other staff was also fixing a drink, he asked us how we were doing. Basically making conversation which was great.We sat down and waited for our food which took about 15 minutes to come out. This was no surprise since chicken takes about that long to cook. We both ordered the hot chicken which was out of this world. Throughout the course of our meal, several of the men working there checked up on us. I forgot to order Mac and cheese and when I went to the counter to get some he gave it to me for free. I mean as if they couldn’t get any better. The entire time my mom and I were talking about how much we loved everything about this place. Once we were done, we started cleaning up our table. Stacking our dishes like we do everywhere we go. No lie, one of the guys like ran to the table to get our stuff so we wouldn’t have to! We told him we were getting it, but he said we were good. The best service we’ve received in a while! We loved everything about this restaurant and will definitely be returning!!!
I couldn’t feel my face it was so spicy but so amazing. I had awful allergies this weekend but has the opportunity to release my breathing here better than any Vix or antihistamine! Customer experience from the staff was exceptional even with a long line. Good people, good food.
Birmingham's best kept secret. Diamond in the rough, Jewel of the Nile. Absolutely Amazing. The staff and the service they provided was excellent, theykept everything clean and are very attentive. One of the best places I've had the pleasure of eating in EVER. It is a must, you have to try Hattie B's. The juiciest chicken on the planet. Top notch, I can't stress enough how impressed I was with this restaurant. If you're in the area, do yourself a favor and check them out. You won't regret it.

Very busy place but still a nice spot to enjoy some fried chicken. I ordered the half chicken with collard greens and macaroni and cheese. The chicken was hot, fresh and delicious, the macaroni and cheese was good, collared greens were okay as well. I did try the banana pudding for dessert and it wasn't a favorite, I honestly did not like it at all. I definitely would come back especially for the chicken and try the other sides but I'm good on desserts.
This was my first time at Hattie B’s and I can’t believe I waited this long. It was absolutely the best chicken I have ever had! The Pimento Mac and Cheese was fire! The Bacon Cheddar grits were good but nothing too special. The Potato Salad was to die for!!! I made sure to save room for dessert and went for the peach cobbler with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Boy oh boy am I glad I did. I was in heaven!The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. Anytime we come to Birmingham I know where I will be looking for food! Top notch service and food!
Best fried chicken ever and now it's closer to home in Birmingham. I ordered a large dark. The heat level was a medium. I could have gone up a heat level to hot. Sides were the pimento mac and cheese and the potato salad. The portions are hefty and that's a good thing. If it makes it till tomorrow I have lunch, Or maybe breakfast, midnight snack...The chicken was fried to perfection. Juicy on the inside and crunchy on the out. Bring that together with the out of this world flavor and it's smack yo momma good. The pimento Mac and cheese was the perfect side creamy with just the right amount of pimento flavor. The potato salad is amazing! Unfortunately I couldn't wash it all down with a 40oz oe so a PBR or two did the job.Peach cobbler for dessert with a scoop of vanilla Ice cream. Just wow. Poke a fork in me. I'm done...
Maybe I was expecting a sit down diner or something else. I don't know! But when I went in, I was pleasantly surprised. It was a fast food restaurant but..well..its not! The lady that took my order was very pleasant and helped me make my choice. I got the "small white" with greens and red potato salad for my sides. Ah...and sweet tea! I sat at the long bar and watched other diners enjoying their company and merrily eating away at various dishes of fried chicken. Now my younger brother and I can eat chicken boiled, broiled, roasted, toasted, fried or any other way. The wait was a bit longer than I expected BUT...that's because they don't fry up large batches and keep the chicken under a heat lamp. The cooks are churning chicken out fast enough and LOTS of it. If not done right, fried chicken breast is DRY. This was moist, tender and well flavored. The greens were perfect...a teeny bit of heat from cayenne? The potato salad was great! If I lived here, I'd be back! I don't but I will be back!
Crowded and worth it. Always a wait and always worth the wait. Parking is terrible sometimes but what you gonna do. Go early and avoid the college kids and tourism geeks.
