We enjoyed our Meal from this Restaurant, we took our Food Out. You order at the Counter for Take Out Service, and wait in the Restaurant for your Order. They have plenty of seating in the Restaurant for those who wish to Dine In with them, and they have Waiter Service if you Dine In. They unfortunately have a Bar next door to them and the Walls are so paper thin that the Bar is playing their Music extremely loud as if it was in the Restaurant blasting, it is hard for the customers or for that matter even the Employees of the Restaurant not to be a bit disturbed by the extremely loud noise (Music & TV) Sounds) coming from next door. When we got to our Hotel with our Food it was really tasting all good and fresh. The Food tastes Homemade. The Chicken has a look that you wouldn't think that it tastes so great and think that it looks old or burnt, but that is not what it tastes like at all, the color on it is all that great flavor that they packed into the Chicken to give it the unique flavors of Spices, and the inside of the Chicken was Juicy. It is a kind of "different" Fried Chicken where it is not greasy at all, but is juicy and tasty meat on the inside. The sides we ordered Beans and Collard Greens and Cole Slaw and Fries were all very good tasting as well. The Sides have a Homemade taste as well. We recommend this place to others, if you want a good tasty piece of "Fried" Chicken and sides be sure to stop in at this Restaurant with it's "unique" Fried Chicken, and it does have a tiny bit of "hot" spice to it's flavor but not where it burns your mouth at all , it is extremely a mild touch to the Spices of the Chicken. We didn't get Dessert because we wanted the Sweet Potato Pie, but they had already run out of it, and we weren't interested in any other Dessert that day, but I'm sure their Desserts are also good. The Restaurant's atmosphere, outside of their loud Neighbor, is a "homey" kind of feeling with the Table Cloths and there is plenty of space for people to not feel as if they are on top of one another. They have some Arcade Game machines in the Restaurant that appear geared mostly to children to play on. The place was clean, and the Service was friendly enough for our Take Out orders.
Mmmmm good! The fried chicken has a mild kick but makes it so good and I don’t like spicy! The sides were all good I tried all my families! The Chess pie was amazing! I’d come again if I am in Birmingham!!!!
The service and food was great. The chicken strip were served piping hot and the dipping sauce was not my favorite ( honey mustard) but it was tasty. The owner actually greeted us and checked to ensure everything was good. Awesome place for fried chicken & good sides
Quick service. Visited this location today. I visited Gus’ years ago I think in Memphis , and before they came to Birmingham. Anyway, if you like spicy, you will love the chicken. I had a two piece mixed with Mac and cheese and baked beans. The chicken has a very thin crust on it which tastes like it’s marinated in hot sauce. I prefer more breading and crust myself. The Mac and cheese was thick but needed salt in my opinion. The beans were tasty. Good visit and wasn’t busy. The cashier acted like she wanted to be at work. Just make sure your stomach can handle spicy!
I got the 3 wing plate w/ Mac and cheese and collards. My daughter got the chicken fingers and fries which she only ate the fries she was not a fan of the chicken. The only gripe I got was my sides was cold and they tasted store bought not home made. The waitress was so sweet and welcoming that I really didn’t mind the wait cause me and my daughter was just relaxing taking in the atmosphere and enjoying ourselves.
WOW.. awesome fried chicken! Excellent flavor and comes out super hot. The sides are great too, especially the cole slaw. It's reasonably priced.. $12 or $13 for a full plate w/ 2 sides. The staff is all super friendly. Our waiter the last two times was a very nice young man. Looking forward to going again
Good chicken. Good sides too but sides could have been warmer. Clean and comfy. It has TV's that do not have media, which is a great practice. I will return. The waitress was nice and worked really hard for her guests. A little pricey though. For 2-piece dark w/ 2 sides and a drink costs around $13. Quality place though.
The best chicken spot in the city! It’s really a hidden gem and could use more exposure. I always enjoy visiting and the food is always good. If there is ever an issue (very rare), it always gets addressed. Starr is the sweetest and it’s always a pleasure to have her as a server. Kimus is also very sweet and always makes sure I am taken care of. I really don’t like eating chicken anywhere else after eating here!
I called the order in for 8 pieces of chicken. They said it will be 25 to 30 minutes. I got there at in 10 minutes so I could be early. The order she gave me was already on the counter. Seemed strange cause she said the orders was freshly cooked. I got home from there in 10 minutes and there wasn't a warm spot on the chicken. It was also very dry. I had 7 pieces in the bag. Not 8. I'm not going to do business there anymore
