El Barrio is not just for food, it is for the experience. The whole atmosphere just makes you happy. The owners will come over and not just speak to you, but talk to you. It is clear that the owners want every patron to have an extraordinary dining experience at El Barrio. Of course, the food is fresh and delicious. They make a mean spicy margarita. But what stands out the most to me is the service - hard to find good service these days following the pandemic. Highly recommend El Barrio!
Fantastic Plantain Nachos, Meatloaf con Chorizo, and Carne Asada. Great technique and presentation from the kitchen staff. Plates were hot and clean!! perfect cook on the steak and hatch Chile gratin was spot on. Service was very attentive. What a great find on our road trip! They were great with our kids too! Highly recommend this place.
El Barrio was wonderful! I loved how there was hand sanitizer and QR code menus at every single table - definitely showed their emphasis on cleanliness! Our server was great — he was SO friendly and on top of it. The food was delicious - one of the best meals we’ve had between our recent ventures to New Orleans, Alabama, and Mississippi. Definitely recommend!
Absolutely delicious food and great atmosphere!
We had the fish tacos, really great meal and had more left over. My favorite was the queso and chips. On our next visit I would like to try out the quesadillas

Visiting Birmingham this week and a server the night before recommended this place. Fun atmosphere and you can see it is a local favorite for young adults. As a vegetarian, I had several great options and ended up with the vegan tostada, which was amazing. Huge portions and lots of great flavor. Definitely a must-go place if you are in Birmingham.
Before i say anything about the food, i want to thank Kevin for an outstanding job and his food recommendations. This place is worth 5 stars all day long. The atmosphere, the service and the food are all worth 5 star. It is an amazing place and i will definitely stop by to try other items on the menu.
El Barrio is one of me and my hubby’s favorite places to grab a quick bite and drinks for lunch, dinner or somewhere in between! The atmosphere is fun and lively. The service is friendly and helpful. The bar is always filled with good choices, and the food is fresh and tasty. The shrimp quesadilla with the sweet lime crema is our favorite thing on the menu and when it is in season, the watermelon margarita is a must have! The wait can be long, BUT it is worth it.
