An Edgar’s employee suggested a specialty order to me in order to help re build a customer relationship. I received a 6:30am call the day of the order telling me they had forgotten it and refused to refund the $$. Only option given was a gift card for a place I now have no confidence in using again. No concesión offered for major error. First try shopping here. Won’t make the mistake again.
So disappointed to buy a “strawberry” pound cake from here only to get home and all it is is vanilla cake with food coloring. Not one thing about it tasted like strawberry and the pink was so hot pink it even looked fake. Extremely sad to have been faked out by a bakery. If you don’t make strawberry don’t slap a label on there faking that you do.
This was my third time visiting this location. They have excellent customer service and the food is great. Will recommend to anyone who has not tried them yet. They also have awesome desserts.
The cake at this store does not taste like the one in Trussville or Pelham. It’s more like box cake and sweet icing. Most of my cakes from Edgar’s are memorable. But not here. Are you cutting corners because of Covid?
Excellent service from the young gentleman at the counter this morning. Ordered a coffee and what I was told was the ham and cheese croissant. The croissant was incredibly sweet for what a croissant should be. It’s not unbearable but definitely not what I was expecting for a croissant. I’m not sure if this was on purpose or not, as I’ve never bought a croissant from Edgars before. Was the sugar a mistake in the recipe or is it normally on the sweet side?
I love, love the Edgar's Bakery Experience. The newest one is located in Homewood Alabama around the corner from the SoHo Square. Beautiful location, beautiful bakery, nicely decorated, Great Staff, Great General Manager Mr. Derrick. This is one of my spots. The cakes are divine, the fresh salads and chicken salads are too. Go and visit every location. Oh, and this Homewood Alabama location has outdoor, covered seating, ceiling fans, and heat glass for your weather comfort.
The young lady did offer to fix it but I personally don't like returning anything to be fixed. Cake was good to eat but writing was a failure. All of the As were Qs I fixed them as best as I could. The young lady said she writes all of her Ps like that, but I told her the issue wasnt the Ps it was all of the As. Didn't realize how bad it was until we got home. Didn't want to mess it up so we just told my mom on her Christmas birthday it was birthology the study of people as old as her. We all had a good laugh and ate the cake.
Lunch was underwhelming. No Soup of the day on a Monday Lunch at Noon (the only reason we choose Edgar's because it seemed like a nice place to get a cup of soup on a dreary, cold, rainy day.)Settled for the chicken club, the chicken was barely edible as it was extremely tough and not correctly sliced for a sandwich. It was a petite sandwich with a small little piece of meat. Served with Bacon Ranch or Curry honey mustard. We asked for sauce on the side, which we got.. along with the sauce on the sandwich. Definitely not worth $16 after tax & tip.The staff was poorly managed as they were clueless (couldn't answer basic questions about the menu), not helpful (didn't seek out answers for my questions) and really seemed unmotivated. We'll be avoiding Edgar's for lunch in the future. The cinnamon roll was delicious!
I have been patronizing Edgar's since the early 90's and have enjoyed their fair for decades. Today I purchased a caramel cake for an absorptive amount, considering my past experience I didn't give it a second thought. I sliced a piece for my fiance and got some on my finger only to discover it was store bought icing, yuck. They could have stayed in their previous location if they were willing to compromise the quality of their brand.
Best bake goods I ever had! Homewood Edgar's is the best in town. Their hospitality is always on point. The treats are well worth the trip. The staff will help you with whatever you are looking for. That's what I call dedication. Good job guys!
