Disappointing. One of the drinks and appetizer never came. Oops, server said she forgot to put it in. We got it and then when it came time for the entrees, one entree was wrong. Everyone has finished their meal and the correct entree still hasn’t arrived. We cancelled one of the appetizers since it still hadn’t come when entrees were being served. Disappointing to have issues with four items not being served on time, not entered in, and/or not keyed in correctly. None of them were taken off the check (except for the one appetizer we cancelled when it never came). 20% tip auto added for parties of 5 or more, which was just an added kicker to the poor service (why is a party of 5 considered a big party??). For the most part, all food was good, though. This was my first and last visit. Disappointing that a party of 5 is considered a large party and 20% tip added for poor service. No refill given on tea. When you manage to screw up and delay 4 items, for goodness sake, comp one of them, or all of the messed up items! Very expensive meal for such poor service.
What a great dining experience. Started with Don Evans holding our table when our party of four were late because of a stuck train.Don talked us through a detour over the phone to get us to the restaurant, then greeted us like long, lost friends when we arrived. One shrimp and grits, pulled pork sandwich, seasonal salad with salmon, and lemon pepper chicken wings meal later, we were very satisfied out-of-townwers This. Restaurant deserves all 5 stars. Thank you!
It was our first time eating at the restaurant. Greeted with a Happy hello and was seat. Fryed green tomatoes was delicious alone with our dinner choices. Our sever very nice lady. The menu was very simple, easy to order from. Good atmosphere,TV's. Noted after 6pm more people was coming in for dinner. My husband and I will return!!?
We were excited to try Avondale Common House for the first time. We called and placed a to-go order. The guy told us 15-20 minutes. My husband arrived at the 20 minute mark and was told they couldn’t find our order. The guy who took it was able to find it and the lady said it was going to be a long time before they could get to us because they were busy. When my husband received our order around 30 minutes later it was the wrong order. My husband was so frustrated that he asked for a refund and left without our food. This place has good reviews, so I’m thinking it was just an off day. Hopefully if we ever decide to give them a try again they will be better organized with improved customer service.
This place has really gone downhill. My "smoky old fashioned" just tasted like orange peel. No whiskey to speak of.My grits and collard greens were cold, and the tortillas for my girlfriend's tacos were like leather.We've been coming for years and brought some friends from out of town. We couldn't be more embarrassed and disappointed.I appreciate most of the meal being comped, but that's not the point.We won't be back.
Extremely limited and odd menu. Took a while to be seated and the waiter was slammed with tables. Even the hamburger was prepared very odd. Not really our taste
Great place to eat with a great atmosphere! Steak, mashed potatoes, green beans were very tasty! My meal took more time than I imagined. My food came when my other meals were about halfway through! Not that busy, saw about 7 other dishes come out and were served to other customers! It was worth the wait, just inconvenient for my table! I will be back for sure!
We ate here for brunch and really enjoyed it. Good draft beer selection. I had the Avondale breakfast plate with fried potatoes. Others at the table had the breakfast burrito and the breakfast nachos. It was all good.
Waited over an hour before we were served. When finally served food was Luke warm(shrimp and grits).. requested a medium well burger it was well done. FRIES was room temperature. I also had fried green tomatoes which was good and Carmel expresso martini. It was my first time ever being there...maybe it wasn't a good night I'm willing to give it another shot..hopefully my food won't cold and the wait won't be to long...
Tried the hummus, wings (maple BBQ), Caesar salad, and shrimp and grits. All were good and the service was fantastic.
