The food here was ok. Not great. But certainly ok. Mine was like upscale bar food. But it was pricey. Draft beers were $9 for run-of-the-mill brews. The food was on the high side. There are better values in Bham. Service was fine.
Staying in UAB area and looking for a solid dinner option, we lucked into Five Points. It was the best meal we had over a week in B'ham. The service was outstanding. Really great attentive and thoughtful. From the way I ordered my salad, the server figured out I didn't eat dairy and then suggested a way to modify my entree that turned out to be perfect. The happy hour hummus plate was so good I ordered it twice before mains arrived. We didn't even have oysters but still loved all our food. And the atmosphere is great too. A-plus experience.
Had an awesome dinner here Saturday 6/18 with my fam for Father’s Day. The food was ALL good — oysters, 2 rolls, cheese curds, fish Rueben, flatbread, and duck confit naan. My mom said the cosmos were really good. And the shrimp and grits were great (I doubted them as having just moved a year ago from Louisiana but can confirm they were great!). Anyway everything was awesome and our server Lee was great as well. Will definitely be back.
The local oysters from Dauphine Island were excellent!!
We had an after rehearsal dinner here for our son. The staff did an amazing job and the food was delicious! If you need a venue for 50 people or less this is the place!
They have great food and great servers. Love that the staff was all smiles. Very classy place with a relaxed atmosphere. Never had to wait on a drink from the bar or a refill. Staff personally interacted with every person at my table and met their needs. Great family restaurant.
Good here is always excellent. I love the variety of oysters and that the menu explains the differences between them. Server was attentive and friendly. Highly recommend.
5 Point Public House was a SLOW start and a STRONG finish. It was Sunday evening and we had been out at Talladega so places were starting to close. 5 Point was open till 10, the hostess said the wait for a table was about 30min so we headed over to the bar for a cocktail while we waited. The restaurant was maybe a 1/3 full and what little staff there were, including the bartender were on their toes trying to stay caught up. We waited about 15-20min for the bartender to slow down and get tickets caught up before she was able to acknowledge us. Near got a drink but the table was ready so we left that behind, sat down and began a great meal. The food here is mostly seafood as you'd expect, a couple other proteins, salads and some yummy appetizers. Our waitress was very attentive, the food delivery was pretty timely and we ended a great meal with some bread pudding. In visiting with our waitress, discussing the lack of staffing we learned that a restaurant that used to be open for lunch and dinner now can only open at 4pm for dinner because of a total lack of staff. I sincerely hope this employee situation corrects itself sooner than later. Of the 12-13 restaurants we wait at in downtown Birmingham at least 10 of them had staff shortages. Be patient, and make sure to enjoy some great New Orleans style seafood.
The menus isn't great (after 2 visits) and neither is the service. Cool atmosphere, but that's all.
Walked in on St. Patrick's day (don't do that btw... That was dumb.. make reservations on holidays. I forgot it was a holiday) The hostess at the door was INSANELY EFFICIENT. Despite the chaos they had us seated in no time. Clarence, was our server. They were very welcoming and composed in a clearly stressful situation! The FOH as a whole really pulled together to work the whole space. The food was great! We had shrimp and grits and the mahi. Mahi was perfectly grilled and the shrimp expertly sauteed. Bc of the holiday I couldn't gage what the usual vibe of the place is like. Great spot to swing in for a few beers and some homey bites. Check it out if your in the five points area and looking for a chill spot!
