We stopped for lunch today as we headed to TN. First of all, one of us ordered a pulled pork sandwich with a side of fried okra and a baked potato and received a large sliced pork sandwich with 2 side orders of fried okra and no potato. The meat on the other sandwiches was not PULLED pork but rather CHOPPED pork. In addition, the baked beans did not taste as if they were homemade, but Van De Camp style beans, the TEXAS TOAST was a piece of toasted sliced bread with butter, no garlic. Very disappointed! We were hoping to enjoy some real southern bbq.

Last Tuesday I ordered a couple of pieces of pie. The coconut pie had the strangest taste . It was coconut but tasted like lemon. After tasting that piece of pie my husband said it would be a long time before he could crave pie again it tasted so horrible. I had a piece of chocolate pie. It tasted like they forgot to use any sugar at all. It was like unsweetened chocolate filling. So bitter and the graham crust was also horrible. So disappointed. I would expect more from Bob Sykes.

I love the delicious food, the staff, are absolutely wonderful!

This use to be our go to for weekly grab a plate and bring home after busy day, NOT ANY MORE! I have got the wrong orders and cold food but after today we WILL NOT BE BACK! Ordered a half chicken (thigh, drumstick, breast and thigh) and got home to 2 pieces of cold chicken. the last straw will not go back! UPDATE: we both also got sick from the chicken this morning!

I Live in Texas, this one of the closest it's come to Home. The Chicken was great and the Ribs had just enough smoke. Cooked through and through. The Potatoe salad was okay , could have had less crunch but good flavor. Restaurant was pleasantly welcoming, but the best part was that huge Pit churning out the meats.

Bob Sykes barbecue is outstanding; they have been around forever and was as delicious today as the first time I ate there fifteen years ago. Counter order and seat yourself, as it should be. It doesn’t matter what you get, it’s good.My only suggestion is order a bunch of stuff, and take some with you when you leave, it’s like having a styrofoam go-box of happiness. And get the big drink in the plastic cup to take home as a souvenir from that time you had great barbecue.

Everything is absolutely amazing there to eat. And the red cake is to die for. I promise you if you try eating here you'll definitely become a lifer. Meaning you will always go back for more. I highly recommend Bob Sykes BBQ I personally give them a 10 out of 10. Absolutely no doubt you will love them to. I recently found that they also have BBQ tacos on Tuesday's so I can't wait to try them next. From the Bessemer location I receivedGreat serviceFriendly serviceIt does take a few minutes in the drive thru but we'll worth the wait.Food is hot n fresh ? ? so so good.Give them a try I bet you will say the same.10 out of 10Highly recommended ?

Today was a bad experience , they're usually pretty good,I had they're barbeque chicken dinner and the chicken was good , but the sides were terrible potato salad was dry and they're side of the day was turnip greens , they tasted straight out of a can with no seasoning. I hate wasting food but the sides I could not eat and trashed them , looks like I paid 15.00 dollars for chicken only.

First time to go here, have heard that food was good, but you know have to try it for your self. The first thing I saw was the open pit they cook on, very impressive for a restaurant to have the pit open for all to see, I'm talking you are with in three feet of it and the cleanest of it was amazing and also the attention it is given to the point of there's a misting hose attached to the wall beside the pit. For you that don't know the reason for the misting hose is so the water doesn't stir ash but creates steam to keep the meat moist and help in the tenderness and flavor of the meat. There was ten racks of ribs, six Boston butts and at least thirty half chickens on it, with spot on turning of all the meats. When we were there at least two pit masters was watching over the pit, to sum it up all the FOOD WAS DELICIOUS. MY Dr will not approve of it but we will return at least once a week or twice

I’ve been a long time customer of Bob Syke’s but tonight in the drive-thru I ordered 3 Big Bobs Specials, all with hamburger, but when I got home I had bbq! I called the restaurant with my receipt, which didn’t state “hamburger” even though that’s what I ordered, and was told that if the receipt didn’t state hamburger then there was nothing she could do. What happened to customer service? I’ll know next time to check my food before I leave as I should’ve done it tonight. This really just chaps my a**!
