Tried out this restaurant for dinner tonight and found it strange there was only two tables seated at 6:30 on a Saturday night but almost immediately found out why. Our server was not friendly at all. The specialty lemonade had no taste and wasn’t sweet at all. When our food arrived, we weren’t given any of the cornbread that is listed as included with the meal and when i asked the waitress if it came with the meal she said “yea, but i wasn’t sure if you wanted it or not” ???
We missed the lunch buffet, so ordered the country fried steak. Very good. It is huge so we shared and ordered extra sides. Mashed potatoes creamy and okra very tasty. Okra was cooked just right not greasy. They have huge four layer cakes on the counter different flavors. Decided to share a piece of the german chocolate. Not the best. The cake has no chocolate flavor, and the frosting very disappointing. Rather tasteless lacking flavor. Would not order again.

Wow is all I can say. There are few places that can pull off chicken fried steak very well, and this is clearly one of them.The chicken was good, as well. The biscuits have great flavor, but they are a bit squishy. That's a weird description, I know, and I think they would be absolutely delicious the next day toasted with jelly on them.But let's be real, that's not why most of the people were in the restaurant when we were there. I didn't realize that they made milkshakes that look like they came from Willy Wonka's chocolate factory. In fact, that's where I'll be going back for my birthday specifically for milkshake.Don't forget to look up at the ceiling decor.
Typically visit for the lunch buffet which is always good, especially the meatloaf and fried chicken! Friendly staff and simple country style environment.
We have never heard nor eaten at The Mason Jar until this past Thursday April 21, 2022. We loved the friendly atmosphere, the food and service were great, and got a fair price for the large portions of food we got for lunch! The only reason I gave it 4 stars and not 5, is that the fried cornbread was too hard and crunchy for my taste. But we would definitely go back here and eat again?
Delicious homey food and large portions. Unbelievable milkshakes. Plain or super adorned. Short on help like every where else but our server was on the ball and very nice. I will return with kids just to have a milkshake.
Southern cooking some right. The country fried steak is delicious. And the milkshakes are a sight to behold. It gets very busy, so be prepared to wait.....but the experience is totally worth it.
Great service. Food was great. the dinning area and restrooms were very clean. The signature ice cream shakes were excellent.
Quick and easy. Walk in and get served from buffet. Can get meat & 3 vegetables or just veggies plate. Food was excellent. Chef used fresh squash and onions. Fresh collards were fantastic. We will be eating here again!
