We have been coming here for as far back as I can remember. I had a lot of friends work here through college and it was always so good. Our last order was months ago and wasn't great so took a break from it for a while. Gave it another try last night and spent $55 for the last time at Country's BBQ.Pros:-You can now order online-My 7 year old loved her hot dog with ketchup-They have the good ranchCons:-Ordered online at 5:55pm and pickup was at 6:30pm. Arrived late at 6:40pm and still had to wait 25 mins additional so total of more than an hour for food when the restaurant was not busy and had plenty of staff, they were just preoccupied.-Chicken, fries, fried pickles, and fried green tomatoes all tasted the same, like burnt grease. Time to change the oil. Brunswick stew or soup was full of bones and salt and literally couldn't eat it and the beef brisket was very dry. Just a bad all around meal when usually it is amazing home cooking.-Staff was not concerned with helping customers. They were all sitting at tables with customers that appeared to be their friends/boyfriends, playing on phones, cutting up and going into the kitchen. Cutting up in the kitchen and peaking around the door staring at the line waiting to checkout. It was like there was no management.-There were people waiting so long to pay for their meal that they just all tried to pitch in cash and lay it on the counter because the servers were preoccupied.-The building needs a good cleaning and roof leaks addressed. There is mold all over the ceiling and the floor going to the women's bathroom is literally falling in due to water damage-Hire management that cares about this establishment the same way the patrons that frequent it for years do. Servers, in order to make money you have to be motivated and customer focused. They are the ones paying you based on your service. I was a server for years and made great money doing it.
If you are a bbq connoisseur, then Auburn Country’s BBQ is NOT the place to go. Auburn/Opelika has many better choices. Went today because my go to bbq restaurant is closed this week and I was in a hurry. BBQ sandwich was too chunky/grisly. Service was aweful, with an angry old man working front host/check out station.
Great little place. The food was awesome, very well-priced compared to other spots, and the portions were generous. The service was absolutely outstanding—Ally made the dining experience absolutely wonderful. If I owned a restaurant in the area, I'd poach her.
My husband has been going here since he was a child.. we now live in Kentucky and come here every time we are in town. Ordered Brunswick stew Togo… took 15 minutes to get… I wouldn’t call it stew. I wouldn’t call it soup.. it’s water with chunks.Disappointed won’t ever come back
This place will do in a pinch if you NEED food now, but it’s all subpar. The pulled pork sandwiches are always dry and chewy, a sign that the pork was not properly smoked. The brisket sandwich is an embarrassment! No smoke ring, no bark, dry, stringy and tough. On top of all that the brisket wasn’t cut thin and against the grain for an easy bite. It’s cut WITH THE GRAIN in thick, 1”+ thick pieces. The fried pickles have one flavor profile, “salty”. They are not worth the calories or the cost. Honestly nothing they have is worth the calories.I’d save my money and go to Niffers , Plaza, Bow and Arrow, and even Byron’s.
we were ignored when we walked in because the people at the front were talking. we waited for our food for 45 minutes while our server sat at a table with other customers. food was good.
Called in a order yesterday ask for the tender to be extra crispy they was soft like a pillow and taste like a rug. Very disappointed. The fries was cold. Spend almost 40.00 wasn’t worth it
We had lunch today and it was good, but not great. The good: my wife's grilled chicken fingers (and amazing honey mustard) were phenomenal and the smoked corn on the COB was also a standout. The bad: my butter beans and squash casserole were certainly good, but were bland = needed some salt/pepper somewhere in the cooking process. I had the pork ribs - two were good, but the rest were thin and dry/tough like they had been cut well ahead of time and sat under a lamp. We would come back for the chicken fingers and corn, but not for the ribs.
I ordered 2 platters. Chopped bbq one Hot sauce and one medium sauce. I received no sauce at all..I ordered 2 pieces of buttermilk pie and received 2 pieces of pie that tasted like stale peanut butterWon’t go there again
The restaurant is very clean and the food is very well priced. Along with this bang for your buck meal you are also treated to exceptional service from all staff members making this a very great place to stop for lunch with family and friends for good food and excellent pricing.
