Great service, delicious catfish and steak. Their specialty of course is catfish, so they have hot, fresh and ready to go so it's not a long wait.Servers and management were very attentive. Will for sure be back!Highly recommend!
Most of these stars are for the servers. There were only 2 or 3. One was bussing tables and being a hostess at the same time. She is a star. The food was all sort of basic and fried. If you're hungry...it's food. Since it was a one off place I'd never heard of I had higher hopes I guess. Could've been just a busy day and short staffed, it happens. I don't really care about all that, just waited for the food and it made me wish I'd gotten pretty much anything else.
Food was ok. Smaller portions now. Hushpuppies were great but Catfish Cabin's legendary status is in question.
Normally the food is awesome here but today my whole catfish was not fresh nor was the hush puppies or onion rings. Normally I have to wait 20 mins or so my food, I placed my order and within 5 mins she came back with it. I should have tasted my food before I pulled off. In the past two days I have spent about 50.00 here. I'm very disappointed. When someone frequently eats at your place of business they are going to know when the food is fresh. My friend that was with me that also ordered said his food was not fresh and didn't taste as good as normal. The lady who waited on us act like she had an attitude. Next time I know not to come when you all first open. I spent 25.00 today on food that was not worth 10.00. I guess my neighbors dog will eat it.
To say that the staff went above and beyond would be a GROSS understatement. The food was delicious and even with them being shorthanded (everybody seems to be these days), they knocked it out of the ballpark!!! I'd give them 10 stars on the recommendation if I could.
Great catfish.I loved loved loved the hushpuppies .Definitely coming back, if im ever in town.The two waitress were very kind.Keep up the great work.God bless.
If I could give this place a ZERO— I would! The Manager of this establishment is VERY RUDE and lack in Customer Service! My Family and I visited Sunday, May 16, 2022. We were so called greeted rudely, to begin with. We walked in and was greeted with “We’re very busy today, but I’ll get to y’all in a minute”! First of all… What??? How about, “Thank you for your patience and visiting with us today, we’ll be with you in just a moment”! Had this Degenerate had the smallest portion of Empathy, she would’ve known how to use it! So, she seats us. (it’s a very warm day, mind you). We sat there for 15 minutes! No one greeted us by saying, “We’ll be with you shortly”. No one offered us water or anything”! My Husband then asks, “Who’s our Waitress”? The same Degenerate responds by saying, “I don’t know, someone will be over here shortly”! We couldn’t take it anymore and decided to leave. My Husband then asks to speak with the Manager. The Degenerate, responds by saying that, she was and says for 37 years— at that! Well, I guess she’s been Managing WRONG for 37 years! Times have changed and she needs to update her Customer service skills! Immediately!
My husband and I stayed overnight in Athens on our way south and decided on the Catfish Cabin for dinner. We were seated immediately and our waitress was friendly and prompt. She brought our drinks, hush puppies and Coleslaw within a few minutes. The coleslaw was very good and the hush puppies were excellent. The batter covering them was very thin and they were very tasty. We hired and order of fried green tomatoes and mu husband had catfish and a sweet potato while I ordered catfish with fries and a stuffed crab. Everything other than the sweet potato and French fries had a very heavy coating . We wished it had all had the thin batter. The fish, however, was very juicy. We wouldn’t return if we were in the Athens area again.
I have only been there twice. The first time I went around 1 in the afternoon the waitress brought me cold fish that look like it had been double fried. I requested fresh and she brought it to me and it was good. The second time I went I took my wife for Sunday lunch and they did the same thing again which was they brought us cold fish cold fries and the waitress was not nice about bringing fresh food, it was almost like I insulted her, and the so-called fresh food she brought me was not that good. When you go to a restaurant and you order food for 2 people and it cost you $35 the food should be fresh all the time and not after you have to request it and it is still not right. By the way the waitress never came back to my table I had to go find her to get my ticket... Not good at all
Catfish Cabin is locally owned and they have the best food in Athens and the reason they run out of fish is because they stay buzy all time and if u haven't ever worked in fast food then u don't know what the workers there go through they try there best to please everyone that comes in but thats impossible and if ur short staffed like everyone is now you got to wait I don't see no body leaving the lines at Burger King r mickie d love the food there and there workers r amazing .Catfish Cabin gets 5 stars plus
