Spartan, well worn/experienced interior. Ok service. Average or lower food quality and taste. Not cheap. Below average experience…
The restaurant is so dirty, I wipe the seat and the napkin was black with dirt and who knows what else. I saw the waiter use a filthy rag, to wipe the table: that look liked it hadn’t been washed in weeks. The floor s the windows so dirty,
I had the pork noodle special and it was awesome and could not believe all the food I got for the price. My order was to go and the host did an amazing job. Made me feel very special. Also loved the colour of the restaurant.
I have always loved Thien, especially the peanut sauce with the cold rolls. But the last 2 times I ordered the peanut sauce has been “off”, and this time it was inedible. Tasted rancid, or like it has a lot of vinegar added. I will try it again sometime because of years of loving the food, but very disappointed with the sauce recently which is the main reason we choose this restaurant.
This particular location has been a favourite of ours for 5 years, every time we come to Saskatoon. Met a friend this week for our traditional lunch of vermicelli noodle bowls. Poor flavour, DRY as anything (even with a bowl of fish sauce added), the fish sauce was watered down (no real taste/smell), almost no vegetables in the bottom (which added to the overall dryness). Normally, everyone cleans their bowls and leaves very full and talking about how tasty everything was. This time, our bowls were 3/4 full when we were done because nothing tasted very good. It used to be PACKED at lunch times, but 12:30 pm on a Monday there were only 4 tables. Sad that it went down so much - maybe COVID? Our server was nice, but rushed. I think he had to take care of tables and the front desk and the bar area all at once.
Something has definitely changed here. This used to be our go to noodle bowl place. We went last evening, had the jumbo beef and shrimp noodle bowl. The beef was so over cooked (burned and tough) could not chew it. I had to search to find the two overcooked shrimp. My wife had the supposedly bbq’d chicken and rolls bowl. Definitely not bbq more like tasteless steamed chicken. Definitely not near the standard we were used to from this establishment. What has happened here? Won’t be back
We went to the Thien Vietnam 2 restaurant on 8th street for a Father's Day dinner treat. Well the waitress never once smiled and hardly looked at us. She took the order and that was all. Ok beside having a nasty waitress the food was horrible, we couldn't eat half of it. The meat was so tough our dog couldn't even have eaten it. Almost $40. for the two of us for something we couldn't eat and enjoy. The waitress didn't seem to care and when my husband said something at the till they just ignore you. This is the last time we will ever go here and they sure didn't get a tip. We did have a beer and were given a wine glass to drink it out of.
Normally I love eating here, but the produce in the noodle bowl I just ordered tasted off, and when I checked was brown and slimy in areas. It looked to me like the bowl I ordered had been sitting under a heat lamp for quite a while. I ended up tossing it.
The service was absolutely atrocious, every other person at my table got their food at different times after an hour wait, while I sat for an additional 30 minutes without my food, having to watch my friends eat. We weren’t offered drinks and the server ran away from our table and avoided us completely to the point where we were unable to get a single water refill.
I went there and ordered beef specifically and said I can’t have Pork and said it 4 times that I wanted beef to make sure it was correct and the person taking my order said “yes yes no problem” my order comes I try one bite and it taste off I tell the person in front of me and they try it and say yes that’s not right either it’s not beef I didn’t touch it after abs waited for a long time until finally someone came and they said that not beef it’s pork. So I said I can’t have pork I asked for beef 4 times to confirm can your please call the person who took my order. They said ok and the man who took my order took a very long time to come and when he did he without asking what I wanted to do and even more he did not apologize to me at all he did admit he made a mistake but he did NOT apologize for his mistake and then he proceeded to talk incredibly disrespectfully to me and extremely rude things you would not expect to be said in a restaurant setting and it turned into an unnecessary argument. All in all I been here before all the new people were hired and I assume it was bought over by someone else because it used to be decent now with the new team abs management it is absolutely awful and I am just still amazed by the amount of disrespect I received as a customer. If you do end up going to eat there still I wish you the best of luck and hope your experience is much better then mine.
