SUPER RUDE. The RUDEST Waitress and staff ever. Imagine the sign outside said they close at 2 am. (The sign with red lights, like currency exchange signs) and I went in at 11.45pm. Nobody came to serve me. I politely asked if I could get a menu, then the waitress yelled at me saying "were crosed we're closed!!" I said "the sign outside mentions 2 am" she said "well it's old sign old sign!! And the chef left!!" She yelled. I said " no need to be rude! How would I know there is no chef. And that the light sign is old??! She didn't apologize. She gave me dirty looks and so did the owner/manager.Sigh. The SAD part is that was supposed to be my first dinner in Montreal to celebrate 20yrs since I came to study in Canada in 2002. And wok was the first Chinese restaurant I went to 20 years ago and I was giddy happy taking photos of their restaurant to promote it in my travel journey. And that's how disgusting g their treatment was.The food is good but the attitude and service is HORRIBLE RUDE AND REPULSIVE. if you want polite people with good good go to ganadara in the corner of st marc and ste Catherine.⚠️ ⚠️ ⚠️ ⚠️ ⚠️DONT DELIVER FROM THEM. They send sht food. I thought I'll forget about the in-person treatment and deliver from them through doordash. They literally sent me pieces of TOMATO in lieu of the seafood tom yum. And the meet with Chinese broccoli was disgusting the meat was half cooked and didn't taste like beef. Not sure if you can see that on the photo but the "beef" has white spots that look like pus" After one bite I threw the whole thing in the garbage. See other reviews of 1 star of people who drew their food after deliver !! BEWARE.Horrible shameless business.Shame on you Wok?????
This restaurant is a bit dirty, I almost slipped walking to the washroom because someone had spilled some sauce on the floor and no one cared to clean it. We had the stir fried noodles and they were alright. But the peanut sauce tofu was not; it had the texture of a rotten shoe. I was definitely not a fan and it made me sick to the stomach. It's a shame because the location is great; it wouldn't take much effort to turn this place around into a decent restaurant.
Good price, taste good and big dishes. Butbad interior, not good service, 10%minimum tips (Required, not optional)
My buddy Michael cool manager I always like him really guy. I mainly eat Singapore noodles or Cantonese chow it's the best great quality very good prices and lunch time specials. Who ever said the quality went down that is not true they are just as good as they ever were and I know I have been going there for 10 years.
A few years ago this would have been a 5 star review. I would always tell people how fast the service was and how fresh the food seemed to be. How there were always so many people on serving staff. Not to mention the great prices.Now, not so much. Maybe it's because they have so many Uber Eats and or Skip the Dishes orders and delivery drivers coming and going, that the service has slowed way down (my last visit it took almost 30 min to get my food and there were only a few other people in the restaurant). Seemed like a few cooks in the kitchen but only the one lady up front doing everything else. And the food was mediocre at best.In these times of not going out often, whether it's because of the pandemic or the ridiculous price of gas, our dollar is stretched thinner, so when we do go out I expect to get quality for my money.Will I return? Sure. Will I return as often and recommend as freely? Definitely not.
I ordered Meat Stir Fry with vegtables on Doordash and went directly to the garbage. I've lost my appetite since that day. The terrible smell of this dish is still stuck in my nose.
I order almost every single week since 2020 & happy about their services. The manager, delivery man & chef are really very nice. The food taste best in downtown & the manager Michael is very generous. He takes customer feedback very seriously and that’s his key point of success. Last star is for their continues improvement & they deserve it.
This place is one of the bests. Always nice food, good price and great portions. It’s pure street and reconfortant food. Always going late night over there!!!
I ordered delivery from Wok Cafe last night, as a remedy to my total exhaustion recovering from Covid... Could not be more pleased! The portions are super generous, the price is right (so many restaurants are offering smaller and smaller portions at steeper prices) and most importantly it was DELICIOUS! I got the bean sprout chow mein, general tao tofu with rice, and hot & sour soup.The chow mein is a favourite dish which I often order from Restaurant PM. This version did not disappoint - the bean sprouts were VERY fresh and crisp, the noodles perfectly cooked and lovely lightly cooked onions & scallions to add sweetness and texture. Not greasy, not heavy, but packed with flavour.The general tao tofu was delicious. It's not cooked in a thick batter like some places - the tofu is deep fried and the sauce is very tangy and aromatic. I would describe the dish as juicy, whereas a lot of places make a version that feels like you're eating doughnuts in sauce.The hot & sour soup was divine - not gloppy like some restaurants. The different types of fungus/mushroom and vegetables were the perfect texture and the flavour was savoury and comforting. The perfect winter soup.Food was prepared and delivered quickly, and I can't wait to order again for my whole family next time, to try more dishes. Thank you for a lovely dinner when I was feeling pretty low!
Whenever I’m within delivery zone love ordering from Wok Cafe. I love introducing my friends to the place and last night was no different. I got my standard large wonton soup and Hunan dumplings and the General Tao Combo with a Tom Yum soup. The egg rolls were stale, big let down! The GT combo was excellent fresh and hot and the portions generous. I had ordered the BBQ pork but they sent some type of chicken dish instead which was very disappointing because I had spoken so much about the pork, oh well next time! The delivery man is always nice and super pleasant and it has been great seeing him over the years. I look forward to my next visit when I’m in the zone.
