Imagine bagels so good there's a line out the door all day long. Not toss in prices that are so good they're almost like stealing. Grab some Philly cream cheese out of the refrigerator, order a half dozen, and just eat until you wish you had ordered a dozen.

While it is neat to see the bagels being made from the enormous mound of dough to the old school fire oven, the bagels themselves are very tough and hard. Go for the experience but don't buy dozens of bagels!

Our local friends explained this as an institution for Montreal but it must have lost its charm over the last few years. The bagels are delicious but it is literally just a bakery to buy bagels. However, it was cool watching them hand roll the bagels and put them in the wood fired oven so the place smells delicious. The cashier was a little stand offish when we went but did recommend the sesame bagels that were fresh out of the oven. I believe it is best to get here midday to get the most options for bagels because when we went in the late afternoon there was quite a few varieties sold out for the day. They have cream cheese, butter and salmon to go with the bagels but you have to buy that in addition to the bagel and make whatever you want to do outside. There is a St Viateur bagel shop that makes sandwiches and toasts them on site but this is a place to visit if you want them right from the source. We were debating grabbing a bag or two to go back home with but we enjoyed a couple of bagels outside and bought a shaker to top food with their everything bagel seed/spice mix.

The best bagels in Montreal. We tried fairmount the day before, but this was a completely different experience. There are seats inside as well as outside, dozens of different bagel flavours as well as spreads and toppings. You can also buy bagels in bulk. We bought a dozen to take home.

Wow. Who knew a bagel could be so delicious. I got the classic sesame bagel, it was still hot it was so fresh. The bagel was perfectly crisp on the outside and fluffy and beautiful on the inside. The sesame seeds must have been harvested from heaven, they were so good. Again, who knew bird feed on a bagel could be so enjoyable. This is NOT the st. viateur cafe where they prepare the bagels for you. Just a bagel shop. They did have cream cheese and drinks here though.

The best of the best when it comes to bagels, first time I was able to try a bagel fresh from the store and it was worth it! The maple apple bagels are so good, please sell these in store! A must visit when in Montreal. Also the liberte cream cheese is the best and it's impossible to find in Ontario.

Love the bagels but….You gotta start taking debit and credit as a form of payment, I had to walk 4 blocks to the closest ATM for cash. It todays post-pandemic world we can always have cash to fall back on. Also… wouldn’t hurt the staff to smile once in awhile, they looked like tireless bagel making machines that wanted to stick their heads in the bagel oven.4 stars.. get it together already

Best bagels ever. Believe the hype. If you are out of town, try some bagels. Yes, we’ve had other bagels in the city that are on par, but you can’t get these outside Montreal. We now just buy half a dozen bagels daily while visiting.

Eat one outside or take them home. You can watch them go into the oven. Montreal bagels are bigger, with a larger center hole and sweeter. So if you are expecting New York style bagels, forget it. You are in Montreal, for goodness sake.

I have no idea why the guide books send you hear to eat bagels. It's not a restaurant. It's 5 young, bored guys, who moan away after customers have left. So, yes, they make bagels in a wood fired oven, and yes they are nice. But you can't get a sandwich here, just a bagel. Sure they have a few packets of frozen salmon hanging in a very small cooler, but it's not like you're going to buy them and go sit on the pavement and make a sandwich. So, come here, buy bagels and take them home. There's bagels just as good down the road and they'll add salmon and cream cheese and give you a place to sit.
