I came here for dinner on a Saturday. Booking in advance is a must. We had good food and great service. There was a music playing playing the piano and singing as well. The Romeo and Juliet roll is absolutely to die for. A definite standout in the meal. I would definitely come here again and recommend to my friends.
Slow to serve.Came at around 6PM, waited for about 20 mins after ordering for the first order to deliver. The flavor is ok for the price. But the suchi rice not very well done in my opinion.I'd rather have tastier sushi than its fancy plating.Don't think this restaurant should be at its current 4.5 stars, more like 3.8 or 3.9.Giving 3 stars to bring that down.
Just came back from this restaurants to have sushis, and it was not a good experience. The sushis were not tasty - well they where, but not in a good way. Every single item I tried from the menu was bad. For example, the gyosas were partly burnt and both the dought and filling were amongst the worse i’ve had in a japanese restaurant. We couldn’t even finish our meal because of the taste of the gyosas and the last rolls we ordered (which I believe was the Kiss Roll). It’s a pure mystery how this restaurant got so many good ratings, when the food was bad, and overpriced (at least their specialty rolls are). Did I just fall on a very bad night? Honestly, I’m not willing to try and find out by going there again. The only good thing i can say is that the service was very good, both at the reception upon entry and the waiting at the table (which is why i gave 2 stars instead of one).
I don't understand how this place has such a good rating. We ordered a la carte salmon, tuna, scallop, octopus, mackerel, and rolls. They smelled funny and did not taste fresh that we couldn't even finish. Service was slow. Drinks were really light on alcohol. I hope I don't get sick.
Thanks for the great service. It was nice to see a full capacity restaurant. Good job guys !
Sho-Dan is the reason I love sushi. It was the first place I ever really indulged in the cuisine and it pretty much ruined other sushi places for me. I can say with confidence that they have not compromised on quality, service or experience since day one. I would highly recommend Sho-Dan to anyone.
Top food, fresh and original.Top service, nice and quick. It is a little dark inside (to us) but otherwise one of the best Japanese restaurants we ever had.

An excellent Japanese restaurant. A favourite for Sushi and sushimi.
We were visiting Montreal from LA last month, part of the trip to check out McGill University for my son, who is a senior in high school. We knew the restaurant had good reviews, and was happy to experience it first hand. The food was of high quality, quite delicious, with some nice creations by the chef owner Chinh (aka Romeo). The service was also very good and the cost, surprisingly quite reasonable. What made the evening extra-special was Romeo coming to our table and visiting with us. He was very friendly, joked with us, and regaled us with some of his interesting experiences. Hoping my son decides to attend McGill, and gets accepted there, so we can enjoy the dining experience at Sho-Dan more often.
