Amazing burger and fries. Great ambiance for hanging out with pals or a casual date spot. Also serves a very underrated brunch.
This place seems totally confused whether it's a bar or a diner. The curb sign says diner- as soon you walk in, it seeme like a bar. Then as you're seated it's somewhere between resto & diner. The basic decor & paper placemats give a diner feel as well. But unlike a diner menu, the options are very limited. It's like they haven't decided what type of place they want to be and the result is an awkward atmosphere. The mac & cheese I ordered looked nothing like what is in the image from 3 years ago. They must have deteriorated in the last year, guessing they were better quality before I came here.
I usually love this place but maybe not again after this experience tonight. I had finished a 12 hour shift came in to order and pick up a burger since I was looking forward to it all day and the establishment opens at 5pm. Barman advised me it would take 5-10 mins max. I ordered a burger with no raw onions. Food kept coming out of the kitchen for other clients after 10 mins and some that ordered had after I did as well. I was patient and waited for over 30 mins. No one staff wise has mentioned an issue in the kitchen. Starving… Managed to get home and the burger meat was very tough not at all the usual moist Nouveau Palais patty I remember and was with raw onions and a white sauce inside nothing else. Taking bites of my burger with the strong onion stench from the onions wasn’t pleasant at all. If it wasn’t for my hunger I wouldn’t have taken more than one bite and chucked it in the bin. Was really disappointed by my experience and after such a long day it honestly sucked.
Common folk need not pay a kings ransom for this regal cuisine.A grandiose, succulent, exquisitely cooked beef patty provides consistently superior mouthfuls bite after bite.Majestic as the sauce is; it does not rule outright. Instead sharing power with an equally noble array of seasoning and sumptuous toppings. An establishement deserving of its place among burger royalty.
Love this resto, the vibe is cool and the menu is sublime. Highly recommend the BEST BURGER in Montreal.
Pro and friendly service and the food was great, including some of the best fries I've even had. The gazpacho was excellent too.
Service was very nice. Unfortunately the food was not so good. Worst coleslaw I have ever been served— literally just cabbage mixed with oil — and unfortunately it comes in heaps atop the hot dog as well. Go to literally any other stall. Really wish I liked this place though, decor is cute, and the burger is fairly good!
This place was great when it was the original Nouveau Palais with great greasy spoon pizzas and stuff but now it’s just another overpriced hipster douchbag hangout. Save your money and go someplace else

A neighborhood staple. Retro and cozy vibe enjoyed by families and groups of friends alike. Good for brunch and late-night eats.
