Prices for this place has gone up. The fish and chips is ok, but the burger is rather small. Patty has taste, but overall just passable. We experienced an extra charge on the fountain drink (as part of the set lunch) for some incomprehensible reason - some function of the dispenser is not working so they have to charge more for it. Won’t be too difficult to inform the customer first, no? Was left for us to find out about it when the bill came. It’s not a big amount but I don’t agree with the practice.Won’t be returning to this place.
They have the best god darn burger I've had in two decades. They even ask how you'd like the burger to be cooked - medium rare, medium, or well done. Add your own sauces. Et voila!
Prices are a bit steep for what you get, but it is downtown Montreal after all. The curled fries are pretty good, and the fish and chips was quite normal. The restaurant has a diner atmosphere. The restaurant operates bilingually. The actual building is deep but narrow and there's quite a few tables.
My partner and I went to try out this place a few days ago and had a bad experience. The service was incredibly bad that day and the waiters were cold, unwelcoming, not polite and seemed to not care at all. I know that we are all human and we all have bad days but every single employee was unwelcoming. Also, I believe that the food is a bit overpriced since for two small burgers with fries and a drink, our bill was over 50$… The waitress also brought the card machine and bill before my partner could even finish his meal. Let’s just say that the quality and service did not live up to our expectations.
I'll be honest, I added a star for the fact that this place is an institution. But my experience there was less than ideal. The food *is* good, undoubtedly, but you can get similarly good burgers and fries at other restaurants (even ones nearby) for a significantly lower price. The service, at least for me, was bad. I dunno if my server was having an off day but she was incredibly rude to my father and I, and talked over us as we tried to tell her what we wanted... to the point where I never even got to complete my order because she just up and left without letting me get a word-in. Disappointed. I don't think I'll be back any time soon.
it was good poutinethe staff was nice:)edit (went a second time): ok it’s good but why tf did i spend 26 dollars on this (the burger plate alone)
Excellent service from wait staff and delicious burgers right on Rue. Ste. Catherine. Highly recommended!
A different experience to most other restaurants in the area. A little dated in terms of atmosphere and menu butIf you like hamburgers then you surely won't be disappointed here. One of the more family oriented options in the area with relatively decent prices as well.
I ordered a medium-done burger and they gave me a burned burger. Not charred, not well-done, but a burned burger. My wife also got a burned burger. Plus the bread was old and stale. The quality of a hamburger is better at McDonald's and that's not an exaggeration. In addition, they don't practice social distancing. The place was empty. But they still grouped all the families next to each other along the window. The place was empty so there was no need to do it.
It's being a while I didn't visit this restaurant since the pandemic. The burger is as usual, good... tasty, grilled crispy outside and juicy inside (I order medium well). Service is good too.
